Part x: We Never Could Be, But Let's Pretend

19 1 12

I don't know your face,

Yet it haunts my dreams,

A phantom in the night,

Or so it seems.

I don't know your voice,

But I hear it in the breeze,

A whisper in the trees,

A gentle, sweet tease.

This is definitely a misconception,

A game I chose to play,

Two strangers in passing,

Yet I wish to stay.

In this world of what-ifs,

I dance on the edge,

Of a something never spoken,

A story left unsaid.

We never could be,

But let me pretend for a while,

In this secret illusion,

Where I think about your smile.

I'll be your muse,

And you'll be my song,

Though we may never belong,

In my heart, I'll be strong.

So, I paint this canvas,

With colours undefined,

In this world of maybes,

and hope our hearts are entwined.

I don't know your laughter,

Yet it rings in my soul,

A melody of joy,

Making my heart whole.

I don't know your touch,

But I feel it in the night,

A phantom's caress,

In the soft, pale moonlight.

This is a secret,

A feeling never to be,

But in this world of pretending,

We're both set free.

In this dance of maybes,

I find my sweet release,

A soul in the darkness,

Yearning for a lasting peace.

We never could be,

But I pretend nonetheless,

In this world of dreams,

Where my heart must confess.

I'll be your refuge,

And you'll be my guide,

In this delusion,

this feeling cannot hide.

So, let's etch this story,

In the stars so high,

In this universe of maybe,

Where my delusion will never die.

I don't know your face,

I don't know your voice,

But in this realm of imagination,

I've made a choice.

To be more than strangers,

In this poetic rendition,

For in my heart's creation,

Lies a timeless, an endless delusion.

Author's Note:

I don't know what I just wrote but I liked the rhyme, I have no one to sing this to, i wish I had on though, this is the first time I've written something like this so, um, don't come at me for the idea, it is certainly not unique, but I don't know... it sounded good, a delusion- like most of my dreams but it's something- something......

Let me know if you liked it

till next time

Tschüss (not me scrambling to find the exact spelling, lol)

@Mgheufjsnauek, hope you liked it?.....
