3rd POV
Before Dawn and the others returned to their classes, she needed to know one more thing that needed to be addressed. She stepped forward and asked, "Pardon me, Sir, but did you find a way to get me home?" It had been a month since Dawn came to Twisted Wonderland and enrolled in Night Raven College, so she hoped the headmaster had made any progress in finding any way to send her back to her world.
But the headmaster responded, "Ah, aaaahhh. A way to send you back home." He looked nervous as he spread random papers on his desk while having a strained smile on his face. "Of course, I'm looking for one. I haven't forgotten about it or anything. But I've been so busy lately."
'Why do I feel like he's only saying this just so he can avoid answering my question?', Dawn thought as her eyebrow was twitching in annoyance.
Grim gave a deadpan stare and said, "Your eyes are all over the place."
"I-I'm not lying. Getting ready for the Inter-Dorm Magical Shift Tournament in October has had me swamped. There's a meeting with all the dorm heads after this too...", Crowley said, quickly thinking up a new topic for a reasonable excuse. That got everyone's attention.
"Magical Shift Tournament?", both Grim and Dawn asked.
"What, Dawn, you don't know Magift?", Ace asked in disbelief, but then he remembered one thing about her. "Oh right, you wouldn't know since you're from another world."
"It's famous around the world. There's a pro league and world cup, too."
"I don't know, either!", said Grim.
"Magical Shift... Magift for short is a sport played by two teams of seven. Put simply, there's a disk that you have to throw through the other team's goal to score points. The team with the most points wins.", Ace explained to the Ramshackle pair.
"Wow, that sounds like American football.", Dawn said. To her, it would be like any high school football team, except magic is involved in this sport. "American football? Is that a sport from your home?", Deuce asked.
"Yes, it's a pretty popular sport in my homeworld.", she told them; Even though she likes sports, she wasn't that big of a football fan, but Dawn thought of Emily's older brothers going wild over sporting events like these.
"It's not something I've heard before. I'll look it up next time I'm in the library. It might even turn into a lead...", Crowley mused at the thought.
"But it might be hard for you to take part in a game of Magift, Dawn.", said Ace, remembering that Dawn's powers as a KeyKeeper must be kept a secret.
"Why's that?", Grim asked.
"Magical Shift is a sport that uses magic. The disk is carried with magic, defence, and offence also use magic.", Deuce explained.
"How big a spectacle you can make with magic is also part of being a great player~♪", Ace added.
"Yes! That's why Night Raven College is known as a champion around the world when it comes to Magical Shift! Countless alumni have gone on to be pro players! Magift is not just an athletic sport, but one that uses magic to compete as well.", Crowley proclaimed as he explained more about the tournament. "Our school's Inter-Dorm Magical Shift Tournament is attended by representatives of pro leagues and those from different magical industries around the world. The arena will be lined with food stalls and visitors from different countries will grace the stadium. It is a tournament that'll make your palms sweat and work the whole world into a frenzy thanks to the live broadcast TV cameras."
"TV cameras!? That's amazing!", Dawn exclaimed. The fact that a school like Night Raven College can draw international attention is something else compared to the sporting events that are played at the high schools in her world. Grim thoughts were completely indulged about the idea of the whole world watching him and seeing his greatness. "Worldwide broadcast!? So if I play in that tournament, the whole world will be paying attention to me!?", Grim questioned in excitement.
