Life is a piece of work. I had thought that my life was complicated enough but getting a call from my mother to come home for a big pack event that according to her "I must be at or she would hunt me down like rabbit no matter where I was and drag me to the event and visit the family" so I had no choice be to get on the earliest flight with my best friend Mia to head home.

"Belle tell me again why am I coming with you again?" Mia complains for the umpteen time since getting on the plane.

I sigh and put down the file I was reading before turning towards her. "Well for one, my mother included you in her threat and you don't want to mess with momma wolf when she wants to see her pups and two, you know we are required to be close to each other to help each other. I'm pretty sure that being on opposites ends of the world does not count." I counter her.

"Ugh! I know, I know. I just hate being called back for an unknown event. I'm not used to being in the dark about things." She explains sinking in the uncomfortable airplane chair. "I just wish your mother would have told us more information."

I grab the file I put down and continue reading on our next assignment. "We'll find out as soon as we land and get on pack land. Even if our families tried to hide it from us one look and I'll be able to know if we are being lied to."

Mia leans down to grab the matching brown file to mine from her gray carry on and begins to read. "I just have a bad feeling about this trip and you know I am never wrong about a feeling."

"Me too," I mumble to myself.

After a 16 hour flight, Mia and I were exhausted, sore from being trapped in the uncomfortable seats, and ready to go to bed. However, we still have a two-hour drive ahead of us. In the parking garage, we get into a black 2017 Nissan Altima that the pack keeps at the airport.

We are near the pack lines when we see shapes moving in the shadows of the trees around us as we drive down the narrow dirt road. "They know we are here," Mia tells me looking out the side windows trying to identify the wolves on border patrol. "Lance and George are on patrol plus some unknown wolves. They must be newly shifted or transfers."

"Do you think the new ones will cause trouble?"

Mia is about to answer when a light brown wolf jumps out in front of the car. I slam on the breaks preventing me from running over the wolf. Mia and I both shoot forward in our seats to slam back. My anger starts to boil at the nerve of this wolf.

"Belle. You need to calm down." Mia says trying to soothe the rising anger. She tries to tell me but I see a little bit of blood from a cut on her head that is already healing. "Clarabelle, I'm fine. It's just a scratch. Please get a hold of your anger."

My vision turns red when I face away from Mia and I see the wolf that caused my friend to bleed. My knuckles turn white from how hard I'm gripping the wheel.

"Belle please don'--"

"Stay here." I bite out at her. I slam open the door feeling the anger filling up my entire body like a rushing wave of heat. I know that my eyes are flashing as I make my way over to the man now standing in the place of the wolf.

"Ma'am you not supposed to be crossing into pack territory without permission." The blond brute in front of me says. My glare gets stronger and my anger grows even more if physically possible.

As calmly as possible I say, "We have permission. Now move before I move you myself."

The brute puffs out his chest and crossing his arms over his chest making a clear notion that he will not let us pass. Mia bursts from the car to stop me from doing something drastic and another brown wolf comes running from the woods.
