Hubris: Volume 3

Chapter 73: Birds of Prey!

The scene starts with Zeldris pointing toward the lady of the crows. In an instant the lady appeared in front of Zeldris, her red eyes stared deep into his black eyes before saying.

???: "Tell me, what is your name messiah?"

Zeldris was shocked she could move that fast, he quickly threw a punch toward her but she turned into a murder of crows instantaneously.

Zeldris: "Don't worry about it, this is a fight and I have nothing to say to a punk like you!"

The lady was not phased by Zeldris's taunts. She merely raised her hand and a flock of crows quickly soared forward toward Zeldris.

???: "Blessing of the crows: Murder of crows."

As the lady chanted her blessing nonchalantly, a flock of crows were expelled and immediately swarmed Zeldris.

Zeldris: "Shit! Get off of me!!"

Zeldris called out as he tried to repel the birds, he swung his arms back and forth trying to keep the flock off of him. As Zeldris was distracted with doing that, the lady changed her arms to suit that of a pair of jet black wings. She soared forward before raising her foot to kick Zeldris in the face. Zeldris was sent back and let out a grunt of pain, he rolled on the ground before getting back to his feet.

Zeldris: "Bastard! Curse of the moon: Moon ray!!"

Zeldris held up his right hand and a pure white glow was seen. In an instant a white beam of light was expelled from his hand, the crows squawked and faded as they were hit. Jet black feathers sprinkled onto the ground to simulate their remains. The lady cut her red hues, as the beam hit her. Her body split apart..but she wasn't harmed. Her whole body was made up of black feathers..and her body was put back together.

Zeldris: "Damn it, she's a blessing type."

Zeldris swiftly dashed forward before he swung his leg back to kick her. His leg went right through her and black feathers flew out of her body.

???: "I can..never forgive a person that harms my crows."

The lady said lowly before raising her foot to kick Zeldris. Zeldris raised his arm to guard his face, as her foot connected with his arm. Zeldris skidded along the ground but stumbled, he fell back due to his exhaustion. Zeldris clambered back to his feet before he had a few deep breaths.

???: "If you had given me your friend, you wouldn't be in this dire situation."

Zeldris gritted his teeth before shouting.

Zeldris: "Shut up! You're not getting your dirty paws on any of them. Not now, not ever. Curse of the moon: Rising M-"

As Zeldris tried to chant a spell, he knelt down and coughed blood. Blood spilled onto the ground and Zeldris began to roll around feeling excruciating pain. The crow lady stared over at him before saying.

???: "You've exhausted your curse power..you are weakened from your previous battles. There's no reason to suffer like this."

Zeldris: "Tch. I'm not backing down! I'm never going to run away. Never again."

Zeldris remembered when he had ran away from the fight with Donny. He felt so pathetic so useless..the guilt was so overwhelming he had to repent by killing himself in that life.

???: "I will put you out of your misery. I do not like to torture my enemies."

The lady pointed her hand out and a bunch of crows flew toward Zeldris. Their beaks were sharp and they were going to rip Zeldris to shreds.

Zeldris: "No..I can't restart, not when I'm this close. DAMN IT!!!"

As the bird got close to Zeldris, a hand made out of pure shadow was seen and engulfed the crows. Zeldris looked up before saying.

Zeldris: "Tabitha..what are you doing here?..you were supposed to evacuate Jack with Phoebe."

Tabitha dropped down in front of Zeldris. She looked down at him before saying.

Tabitha: "Is that how you thank the person that just saved your life?"

She scoffed.

Tabitha: "Do you really think we were just going to leave you behind? Phoebe is with everyone else and Ryo is on his way."

Zeldris got to his knees before holding his hand over his chest. He was in so much pain..blood was streaming from his mouth and he shuddered as he tried to move.

Zeldris: "Tabitha.."

Tabitha: "What do you want me to do?"

Zeldris: "Buy me some time..if I can bask in the moonlight..I can get some of my power back."

Tabitha: "I'll do my best, get as much rest as you can Zeldris."

The crow lady stepped forward toward Tabitha and Zeldris. Tabitha got into a battle stance before saying.

Tabitha: "I won't let you lay a finger on him!"

Zeldris: "She's a blessing type.."

Zeldris fell back as he outstretched his arms and legs to bask in the moonlight.

Tabitha nodded before staring at the crow lady.

???: "Tabitha and Zeldris..."

Tabitha Swiftly made a shadow puppet to show a dog.

Tabitha: "Curse of the shadow: Shadow beasts!!"

As Tabitha chanted her spell. Different types of beasts made out of shadow rushed toward the crow lady. The crow lady raised her hand before outstretching her hand.

???: "Blessing of the crows: Dire crow!"

As she chanted her spell, a large crow was seen in front of her and squawked before dashing forward and engulfing the shadow beasts. Tabitha was in the air before she made a scythe made out of pure shadow.

Tabitha: "Curse of the shadow: Shadow scythe!"

The lady looked up at Tabitha and a crow flew into her shoulder, it's sharp beak pierced Tabitha slightly and she squealed.

Tabitha: 'How did she know?!'

Tabitha thought in a slight panic.

???: "Birds have quite the sight compared to us humans. Their eyes in the sky outmatch us."

Tabitha: "What..wait a minute."

Tabitha remembered something. When Zeldris had flipped off the crow..the crow tilted it's head..it acted similar to that of a camera.

Tabitha: "Wait, does that mean she can u-"

???: "Me and my crows are one..their eyes are mine just as mine are theirs."

Tabitha: "No..that's impossible."

???: " I Anita, will show you what it's like to be a prisoner to your own sorrow.
