It started with a bottle

Hey,

So, here's what happened: I was out fishing with my dad, which is kind of our thing. And guess what I found? Your letter in a bottle, drifting in the water. I almost didn't even come out today. Call it fate, I guess?

Now, onto your questions.

I'm Jose, a 16-year-old guy living near the coast of North Carolina.

If I could be anything, I'd choose to be a professional dirt bike racer. Last year, I won the state dirt bike derby, and the thrill of racing on those tracks was something else.

As for my job, well, I'm in the middle of online school because of this never-ending pandemic and my dad and I sell most of the fish we catch, that counts right?

It's just another day in March of 2021. The whole world's a bit turned around and life's been a bit strange lately, but I'm learning to go with the flow.

The most significant thing that ever happened to me? Winning that derby, hands down. When I'm riding it's like I'm flying, you know?

I hope you're still living at the address you gave because I've got some questions too. Like, how'd you come up with this bottle idea, and what year did you send it? How old are you? And if you could go anywhere where would you go and why? Oh and where did you originally drop the letter?

Catch you later,

Jose

OMG HIIIIIIII,

I can't believe someone actually found my letter – it's crazy! I'm Analise, and I was 14 when I dropped that bottle. To be honest, I did it just for fun, never expecting anyone to actually read it.

I live in Wyoming, so you could say I'm a long way from the coast. Your letter made my day btw! I really didn't think I'd ever hear from the person who found it.

Now on to your questions!

If I could be anything, I'd choose to be a marine biologist. There's something about the ocean that's always fascinated me, even though I don't get to see it much. As for my day-to-day life, I'm a high school student, just like you. Currently 16, trying to navigate the ups and downs of being a teenager. The day I dropped the bottle? It was in June 2019 while in Florida, I guess I was just feeling adventurous during that vacation. As for the most significant thing that ever happened to me? I'd say it's when I adopted my dog, Max. He's my best friend. And lastly, if I could go anywhere, I'd choose the Great Barrier Reef in Australia because of the marine life.

Looking forward to your next letter,

Analise
