After receiving the invitation to Bella and Edward's wedding, he ran off. All he wanted was to find a distraction, a muse, something to make him forget about his aching heart.

How hard was it to understand? He was perfect for her. She didn't have to change for him. He could keep her warm. She could bear his children, and they could grow old together.

So why?

Why choose a bloodsucking monster over him, and why send him an invitation to a wedding he did not approve of. Even with her ruthless audacity, he couldn't bear the thought of losing her...So he ran. He ran as far as he possibly could.

The loud city was almost therapeutic to him, Port Angeles came to life at night, and many party mindlessly till midnight in hopes of clearing their mind. That was exactly what Jacob needed,

A clear mind.

The doorbell rang above him as he entered the nearest bar, Bar N9NE. It's lights and loud music luring all broken people. He told himself he wasn't one of them, that he was fine, that he could forget if he wanted to, but he'd always been a bad liar.

"You can't keep lurking around, kid. You either order or you leave." The bartender addressed him as he was shaking up someone else's order.

His jaw clenched at that, "I've never been to a bar, surprise me." He said, he eyes low. He wasn't intending on getting wasted or anything, just a mere distraction.

"C'omin right up."

Jacob sighed, leaning his head in his palms, his back hunched in sorrow. Why couldn't Bella just love him? He had been there for her in her darkest time, yet here he was lonely, craving a bit of her attention.

"Excuse me?" An unfamiliar feminine voice called behind him. It took him a second, but he turned around.

"Can I help you?" He asked the blonde girl in front of him. Clearly annoyed at her interruption.

"Can I get you a drink? My name is Na--"

"I already ordered, thanks." He turned back around, other women didn't interest him it was just Bella he had eyes for.

"Oh, okay." She looked down and walked off. Was he supposed to feel guilty for just shutting her down completely? He told himself she wasn't his type, and if he wanted to move on, he could.

Just a faint sound of shouting hit him. He could've just ignored it. It was negligible enough. But he didn't. It wasn't in his instinct. His chair creaked as he stood up. He wanted to follow the sound. He rushed out for the busy bar and just as he turned a sharp corner his eyes widened.

"GET OFF ME! YOU'RE DISGUSTING!" An angry woman yelled as she tried to push off an older man, a bigger man. He was trying to kiss her neck by pinning her to the wall next to the bar, but she wasn't having it. "AHG-- I'M NOT DRUNK ENOUGH TO KISS YOU!" She started kicking in a desperate attempt to break free.

The man's hand shot up to her jaw holding it still. "I bought you a drink. You're in my debt now, hon." He smirked, pushing her roughly against the wall.

"N-NO!" She eyes got teary, she tried to free herself, but to no avail. She wasn't strong enough. So she shut her eyes and gave up. Why did she put herself in this situation anyway?

With a harsh slam, the man was off her and knocked out cold on the sidewalk in front of her. Her eyes widened in disbelief, and she looked up only to find a tall tan man with a dark buzz cut.

Jacob had knocked the creep out cold. He looked the girl up and down, trying to check for any injuries. His heart sunk, and the poor girl looked barely done with her teen years. She looked terrified, tired, and intoxicated her mascara was a smudged mess around her hooded brown eyes... What pushed her to be here. He was young too, but he had his reasons.
