PROLOUGE
Silver was running in the forest while it is storming, rain dripping on her pelt, her paws making a thud sound as she ran. She was carrying a white kit in her jaws, she was determined to get it where she wanted, Lightning Clan. She knew it was the safest clan of them all.
Her pelt was shivering and bristling in the air, her tail was soaked. She was getting exhausted, but she wasn't going to give up, it was freezing, and the lightning was scaring her. Nothing was going to stop her from completing her task.
Silver approached her destination and placed her kit on the cold, grassy forest floor and licked the top of his head.
"I promise you'll be safe, Winter." Sliver mewed sadly.
She knew that she had to leave her kit behind. It was the only safe thing that she could do. She didn't want to leave him, but she had too. It was the only option she had.
Silver leaped into a bush and hid as she waited for someone to take in her son. Her heart was pounding really hard. She was worried someone might attack her son. He was a helpless kit! What if a badger or a fox mistook him for a mouse!
She heard paw steps approaching close by and her hearted started beating faster. She felt nervous, she hope her son made it safely in the clan.
The cat looked no younger than an apprentice. Their ears perked up and they sniffed the kit.
"Threshbird! I found a kit!" the apprentice mewed loudly.
Threshbird came running over to his apprentice.
"Jaypaw, are you sure this isn't a trap?" Threshbird asked.
"I think so. This kit seems so young and helpless. Should we take him back to camp? Maybe Squirelltail can nurse him until he can become an apprentice?" Jaypaw asked. "I'm sure that she could love too sense she loves kits!"
"We'd have to ask Bramblestar first. I think he'd immediately say yes sense we can't just leave a kit out in the wild, it's not safe." Threshbird replied. He picked up Winter by the scruff and trotted back to camp, Jaypaw following right behind him, his paws padding against the ground under the soaking grass.
Silver felt relief in her heart when she saw them take her kit. She knew he was safe from the housefolk; they could no long do terrible stuff to him. She slowly crept out of the bush, and walked home, knowing her kit was now safe and would feel loved.
