Meeting Jun Ho this time felt odd for Jennie, now that her real father knew about her existence. How was she supposed to face him now? She hadn't known what it felt like to be loved and doted by a father, and wondered if Jun Ho would treat her the same as before.
As she waited for her father to arrive, she and Lisa sat in the hallway where her blood and Jun Ho's blood were to be tested to confirm his paternity. Jennie already knew the inevitable result, but her heart was thumping loudly in her chest, making her doubt what she was even feeling at the moment.
They didn't wait for too long as Jun Ho, along with his wife and Lucas came to see her. The three had rushed to Qiying City after Jun Ho talked to Hye Kyo a day before.
"Sister Jen!" Lucas beamed her a smile and ran towards her with open arms. He gave Jennie a big hug and looked up at her with a glint in his dark eyes. It was then Jennie thought that she truly didn't mind being his elder sister this time.
"Is it true? Dad said you're my sister. You're really my big sister?" He bombarded her with questions. It was obvious that Jun Ho had informed the boy and his wife about the possibility of her being the daughter he'd been looking for.
Lucas was ecstatic to hear that the beautiful sister he met in the past was the sister they'd been looking for. He definitely wouldn't complain about having Jennie as his sister.
Jennie glanced at their father, who finally reached them with Yoona by his side. Jun Ho had a happy but nervous expression on his face, as if he was itching to pull her into a hug, but decided not to.
Returning her gaze towards her younger brother, Jennie ruffled his hair and laughed. There was no doubt that she and Lucas were siblings.
"Isn't that why we are here? To know if I am or not?" She said in a playful tone and tapped the tip of his nose.
"Then I hope that the result will be positive! I can't wait to call you my sister this time! I'll even get a new big brother as a package." Lucas grinned as he glanced at Lisa.
Lisa looked uncomfortable hearing Lucas's words, but didn't dare to make any comment about the boy's statement. Lucas was right anyway. He was technically his brother-in-law now.
However, he was never used to having such close relations, except for Jennie. He hadn't told his wife yet, but Lisa's view on family and familial ties weren't really good due to his parents' maltreatment towards him when he was younger, but he was willing to try to change for Jennie's sake, if it would make her happy.
"Jennie, thank you for agreeing to take the paternity test with me. I know this isn't easy for all of us, especially for you." Jun Ho said as he stood behind his young son. He was hopeful that his search would finally be over once the results were out.
A part of him was happy, seeing that his children were getting along with each other even before the secret was out. He then wondered how long had Jennie known that she was adopted by Hye Kyo and if the thought of her being his missing daughter had ever crossed the young woman's mind.
"It's no problem, Uncle Jun. I didn't expect you to easily accept me as your daughter with mere verbal claims either. It's only natural that you would ask for a valid proof to support my mother's claim." Jennie replied with a weak smile. She would be lying to herself if she didn't admit that she was also nervous today.
Jun Ho nodded in understanding, and they didn't waste time entering the room where their samples would be taken, leaving Lisa, Lucas and Yoona outside to wait for their return.
Jun Ho allowed the lab staff to take Jennie's sample first, paying attention to how she was taking this news. In his heart, he already accepted her as his daughter. Perhaps they were destined to cross paths years ago, to lead them to this very moment.
