Bryan couldn't sleep all night. He kept on thinking about what the old man said. This was a warning and they must all adhere to.
His eye balls became red and his mind was flooded with what will happen to their town if they continued. The others were sound asleep and didn't notice what was going on.
The next morning, When they all woke up. They all saw Bryan staring and was totally lost in thought.
"What is wrong with Bryan?" Lesley asked
"I don't know." John said as he walked towards Bryan
"Hey!" He yelled at Bryan
Bryan was in shock as he heard John yelling close to his ear."What is wrong with you John." Bryan said furiously
"Well, we should be asking you." Sara replied
Bryan remember he had to tell them what he saw and heard.
"Ohh, last night. I met an old man who told he it'd been better if we return home but if we don't, we'll anger the demos of the river."
They all looked at him weirdly and they were silent for a while. Sara and John giggled silently
"What! Do you guys think this is funny?" Bryan was vexed at their reaction
"Chill out. Maybe you were just stressed out and seeing things." John held him by his shoulders.
"Get your hand off me!. This is for real guys. Why would you think it is made up?" Bryan yelled in annoyance
"This might be true. If not, Michelle will still be with us." Lesley said
"So you are saying we should return home after all we went through." Sara faced Lesley"If we keep on going and we all die, there's no use." Bryan suggested
"Maybe you both should home then." Sara said
Bryan was really angry at what Sara said but he kept his cool and stayed silent.Bryan knew no matter what he said, Sara won't listen.
"Let's keep moving guys. There's no time" Sara murmured
They packed their sleeping bags from the ground and continued their sailing deep into the cave. Bryan has bad feeling about them sailing further
The only person that believed him was Lesley but they had no choice but to keep moving."So who do you think the old man is?" Lesley whispered to Bryan
"I don't know. He just told me bad things will happen if we keep going on." Bryan replied"Do you think what he was saying is true?"
Lesley was curious to know
"I feel it is true." He repliedIt would be very risky for them to go back now. The lives of people in the town rests on their shoulders. It was also dangerous for them to keep going but they went further.
"This is bad... really bad." Bryan whimpered
The cave was large and they sailed for many hours. At some point, they didn't know the direction of where they were headed. The cave was like a riddle difficult to solve
"Are we on the right path?" John asked
No one gave any response. None of them has any idea of the right path.
"Wait you guys. We've been in this cave for hours and we haven't seen anything or gotten anywhere." Bryan was getting frustrated
"Are we even sure this river is on earth?" John asked
"What are we even looking for?" Lesley insinuate"We'll find our way. You guys should chill out" Sara said warmly
"We can't chill out. We are running out of food!" John yelled
After Sara tried to calm them down, she came realization that they might be lost but she didn't want to be that sure. It was getting confusing to her. Sara was having the feeling that they might not make it out alive but she pretended as if everything was fine. Two more hours passed and they were still sailing in circles. Bryan brought up an idea of them going around the cave.
"We all know where we came into the cave right?" He asked
"Yeah, what's your point?"
"If we go out of the cave and go around it maybe we'll find our way out.""Are you sure that's a good idea?" Sara asked
"Do you have any other plan?" Bryan asked furiously. He could take it anymore.
"Wow dude" John whispered
"Look we have to find a way out of here and that's the best option." Bryan stated"Okay, let's turn this wobbly boat around." Lesley agreed with Bryan's idea
They were looking for where the entrance of the cave was. Lesley made sure she took note of where they came from in case of any danger. She led the boat in the way she thought they came from, but when they got there it was like another part of the cave. It was completely blocked with heavy rocks.
Lesley, where's the path leading outside the cave? You know the way we came in from." Sara face furrowed as she asked
"I was sure we came in from this place." Lesley replied
"You aren't blind. There's no place leading outside the cave here." Sara said in a slightly raised tone
"Don't scream at me. Why should I be the one noting where we came in from? Sara was tried of always being the one taking notes of important things.
"Can you guys just shut it. We are obviously trapped."
Bryan was tired of their bickering"Should we call someone?" John suggested
"We can't have signal in a cave." Sara said
"At least try!" Bryan interrupts
"Okay, why are you in such a bad mood." Sara mutter under her voice
"Arghh! No signal. Do you guys have signal?" Lesley asked
"No" they said together
"I can't believe this. We are really trapped!" Sara yelled
