I keep sneaking glances at Gunner on the other side of the fire. His muscles are stretching in all the right places as he and my brother are setting up the tent. I guess they decided to get a good spot before there isn't any more room out here.
Taylor is sitting on a log by the fire with a drink in her hand. She has been flirting with a guy in our class since we've been here. We know him well, we've been in the same class since kindergarten but when he offers to get me a drink, I decline. Even though I know him, if Travis or Gunner see me take a drink from someone that's not them then they are going to freak out on me. Travis is actually being cool about tonight so I don't want to ruin it.
I get up and go over to the to where the drinks are and search around the cooler for something that looks fruity. I end up with a Mike's Hard Lemonade and when I stand back up, I take a drink and then there is a deep voice in my ear. "Have you ever had a drink before Laynie?" I turn around to see Gunner looking down at me. When I just stare at him, he smirks and lifts his eye brow, clearly amused. I shake my head no to answer his question and then I take a big drink. He grabs my hand holding the bottle and pulls it away from mouth. " You've never drank before Alayna so don't over do it or you'll be puking all night." I just nod my head and say " I better get back or Taylor will come looking for me"
About and hour later I'm on drink number three and I'm starting to feel so good. I look over the fire and see my brother and Gunner sitting on the tailgate. My brother has a girl standing in front of him with her arms around his neck and they are making out. I shudder..gross. I might throw up but it wouldn't be because of the alcohol.
Gunner is laughing about something with a group of guys from the football team when a girl from their class, Kristi, walks up to him. She stands between his legs and leans in to whisper something in his ear. He smiles at what ever she is saying and she puts her hands on this thighs and rubs up and down. I don't want to see this, him like this, but I can't look away. She takes his cup from him and takes a drink, his eyes go over her head and they land directly on mine. We hold each other's stare for just a few seconds before I feel the log im sitting on shift a little. I look over and it's the guy that was at the beer pong table earlier.
" Looks like your wing woman got distracted." He smiles at me and tips his head toward where Taylor is making out with Eric, the guy from our class. I didn't even realize they were kissing, I've been too distracted. I let out a laugh and say " yeah, it looks like I'm on my own for the rest of the night."
"Come play beer pong with me, I promise I'm pretty good" he says with a smile. He's cute and he seems nice enough so I say " Alright, but I'm warning you, I've never played so I'm probably not very good." He stands up and offers me his hand, I take it and when I stand up, I sway a little. I guess I'm a little more tipsy than I thought.
"Whoa there, you alright?" He puts his hands on my hips to steady me. I laugh
" Im fine, let's go and kick some beer pong ass." He laughs puts his hand on the small of my back "Now that's what I'm talking about! Let's go, pretty girl." I let him lead me over to the beer pong table. I take a second to look behind me, Kristi has her lips all over Gunners neck, but he isn't paying any attention to her. He is looking at me, and he's pissed off.
