Unforgettable Melancholy
Once upon a time, approximately 700 years ago where any act of defying logic is condemned and a king's order is law, lived a witch and this is her story.
She is well known for her jet black hair for no one possess such unadulterated colour and although
she is a witch, she does not resemble illustrations in children's bedtime stories parents use to frighten their children to behave. In fact she was very beautiful indeed with olive smooth skin, heart-shaped face and soulful blue eyes but the villagers were blinded by disgust and would never so much cast another glance at her if it was not to throw miscellaneous objects at her.
The country's folk despised the witch, their loathing was based on a pigment of their paranoid sense of imagination. They believed that if one looks into the eyes of the witch, one ought to be cursed with terrible, incurable disease and because of this; the misunderstood witch quickly became isolated.
The witch won't just give up and rot in loneliness, she dyed her hair blonde using a new-found herb and dared herself to go to the nearest village, her bravery paid off as the witch found the joy of having friends and even love.
She lost her heart to the crown prince, they crossed paths when he was escaping from pestering servants and the prince was immediately drawn by her beauty while the witch was won over by his charismatic words. Easily with his sandy blond hair and clear blue eyes, every maiden fought to get his attention but to no avail. The witch loved him and her love was mutual or so she thought.
One day, the crown prince was sick, terribly sick and he was on the verge of death. The neighbouring country poisoned him in hopes of killing the only heir to the kingdom.
The news of the crown prince's illness spread like wildfire and soon reached the ears of the witch. She was shaken by the news and hurried to the castle without further a second thought. Meanwhile doctors from miles away came, summoned by the king, to cure the prince but they all failed to do so.
The witch was devastated.
She could save him but will she risk it all? Will she risk of her identity for love?
Witches are actually no different than humans, they only live longer and have talent with herbs and skillful hands to match. They cannot cast curses or fly on a broom like the ones in fairytale books.
The witch decided to face the king and queen, before them she said,"Poison must be cured with poison, there is no other way" the witch spoke with such certainity that the king was baffled.
But nonetheless, the king refused to let the witch use poison as he feared that she is a spy from the neighbouring country that had came to finish what they started but in time he grew desperate and the witch was overjoyed that the king allowed her to try her methods.
She saved the one she loves by risking being isolated once more though it was a price she was willing to pay because as long as he loved her, others won't matter.
The prince recovered but her revelation as a witch chased out every ounce of affection he had for her replaced by hatred and utter disgust.
The prince banished her from his kingdom without a second glance.
The witch crumpled to the ground. She cried until she could cried no more and her heart had withered away.
Rumor has it that she still lives until now in her secluded island. Waiting for someone who will accept her for who she is; a witch.
Others say she went suicidal and hanged herself but her corpse was never found.
love lead to her downfall, will she learn to love another if she had the chance or curse love and lock her heart away?
Its common sense to know if you lock your heart away, you'll lose it along with your humanity
