Nevera was always a peaceful country. One that everyone enjoyed living. Everything about it seemed picture perfect, and the rulers made sure to keep it this way. King Victor made sure of all this alongside his wife Queen Aurora. Everything seemed perfect, until tragedy struck a neighboring country, Zivia.
A cursed disease infected the magic source of the land, slowly rotting it away into nothing. The country, one of the most powerful and respected, was desperate for something to keep surviving, and tried reaching out for help. Sadly, there wasn't much anyone could do. The source of a land's power was sacred and fragile, not something easily handed out, or shared. Growing impatient of steadily losing the power they so dearly value, the ruler of Zivia decided to take matters into his own hands. The first attack was made on a nearby country. Zivia destroyed everything in their path just to steal away their precious energy. The ruler knew it wasn't enough to last, and so with what they had he decided to keep going, keep going more to restore his land to its original glory. War soon broke out around the world.
Everyone everywhere was frightened and on edge, wondering if their home was going to fall victim to Zivia next. King Victor knew that Nevera was too soon to be a victim to the brutal attacks soon. So, he gave Queen Aurora an enchanted amulet that could help her and her two daughters escape and be transported to a safer place. King Victor wanted nothing more than to keep girls safe. King Victor was sure to keep every inch of Nevera safe. Many attempts to conquer the land were made but so far, he was able to hold them off.
Everything seemed fine and well, until one fateful day. Aurora had entered her daughter's room where her husband was happily playing with the kids. "Hello starlight's!" she said, reaching down to kiss the two twins Stella and Luna, who were only 2 years old. Both girls had sparkling silver hair, just like their father. "Who wants to come with mommy to the market?" The youngest of the twins, Luna, ignored her mother and instead reached for their father, who picked her up and laughed. "Guess she wants to spend time with her dad!" Aurora gave a joking sour look to the two before scooping Stella up in her arms. "Very well then, I'll be back soon love." She said and kissed her husband lovingly. "Be safe, and make sure you have the guards with you." Victor warned and Aurora assured him that she would be fine.
After gathering the rest of her things and assembling a small group of royal guards to escort them, Aurora and Stella were off to town. During the ride to the small city, Aurora laughed and talked with the guards happily. She was a caring Queen who had no problems with conversing with her workers as if they were old friends. Soon they arrived. Aurora stepped out while holding Stella and wandered off with the security following safely behind. The queen enjoyed wandering about, looking at stores and greeting the people, spoiling her daughters by buying plenty of toys and candy Stella sought interest in, and enjoying being out of the castle for the first time in a while. It was rare for her and her kids to go out and enjoy themselves, the duties of a queen keep her very busy and tired.
As Aurora was leaving a small bakery with a bag of treats in her hands, she noticed something off about the atmosphere of the town. She noticed a small gathering of people upon a nearby building and decided to go and make sure everything was ok.
The guards stood near as their queen entered the building and ascended to the balcony. She gently pushed through the onlookers and opened her mouth to question all the commotion, but what she had seen made her heart stop, and her grip on Stella tightened. Near the outskirts of the city large fires were visible and people were rushing into the city, trying to escape the danger. Thousands of Zivia soldiers were flooding into the town, destroying everything in their path. Aurora turned to run along with the rest of the people who were trying to give her space to get through amongst the crowd. As they reached the door back inside, a large flaming ball came flying through the sky and crashed into the store. Everyone fell and screamed as the building shook. The royal guards were quick to get everyone and the queen down and away from the collapsing building.
Aurora held onto Stella tight as she made a run for it, sprinting back to the vehicle in an attempt to get to safety. The guards shouted in warning as Zivia soldiers soon started to circle the queen. Stella cried loudly due to all the commotion. The Nevera guards were quick to attack the enemy, desperate to keep their beloved queen and princess safe. Aurora ran at the Zivians, skillfully kicking a couple and knocking them down, creating a small opening in the circle, where she shot through it and continued to flee. "Down worry starlight, mommas got you." She said while looking down at Stella in an attempt to comfort her. With the chaos slowly getting worse, and any forms of escaping dwindling down into nothing, Aurora only had one option left.
As she ran through the destruction and quickly yanked the amulet off of her neck and pressed down onto the gem placed in the middle of it. It was quick to glow a vibrant white and soon the white had surrounded them, transporting them off to an unknown land. As the amulet was finishing the process Zivian soldiers noticed and began to shoot their way. Aurora looked over shoulder right as one of the enemy's shot a bullet, her eyes widened and suddenly, the transportation was complete. The queen and princess disappeared into thin air, away from all the danger.
Aurora fell to the ground, careful to not land on Stella as they arrived in the strange new world. She placed her still crying daughter down but felt a sharp pain in her back. She looked back and there it was, the stray bullet had struck her. Blood was quickly seeping through the front and back of her dress and she coughed in pain. Slowly, she picked Stella up and carefully began to walk, desperate to find anyone to help. She was lucky to soon stumble upon a small village, just a few feet away. With the pain quickly taking over, and blood running out she fell once again, struggling to reach the people. Aurora's vision began to darken and blur when in the distance she spotted someone rushing towards them.
A young lady knelt down and helped Aurora sit up. "Ma'am are you ok! What happened!" She asked in a panicked voice, tearing material off her skirt in an attempt to stop the bleeding. Aurora placed a hand over hers, "Please... I don't have much time left, but please look after her," She used her shaky arms to hold Stella up to the woman, "Just keep her safe, please look out for Stella, and when the time comes... give her this." Aurora placed the amulet into the lady's hand. "Our home was attacked and I'm not sure if my husband or other daughter is even alive, but the least I can do is make sure one of us makes it out alive." She weakly smiled up at the woman and nodded her head, "Of course ma'am- here let me go get the medic!" She exclaimed and took Stella, turning to go back to the village.
She stopped though, turning back to notice the queen, now laying back down with a blank stare. Her body soon started to glow and slowly disintegrate into dazzling little orbs, with her last breath Abigail softly heard, "I'm sorry," as she drifted off into the sky and out of sight. The woman stared in disbelief a heartbroken look appearing on her face as she watched the queen disappear into nothing, before looking back down to the small girl in her arms. "Well... I guess it's just you and me now, huh?" She quietly said while rubbing her cheek. She placed the amulet in her pocket and slowly made her way back to her home. "You can just call me Abigail when you eventually start talking" She laughed, still unsure of everything that just happened, but she was determined to take care of this little girl. Even if she has no idea where she came from, or who she even is. She can take her time figuring out the amulet later.
