KANAN'S POV
"Mira...", I called out her name as I came upstairs. Where was this girl? The muhurat (time for an auspicious beginning) had started and everyone downstairs was looking for her. She hadn't arrived till now. I was sent to look for her as the family and friends were busy in other arrangements. Earlier Bua ji went to look for her but she said she's in the restroom. Sneha checked in the restroom too but she was nowhere to be found and so I just banged open the door to her room. Jackson was all dressed up and waiting for her to arrive. The excitement he held was worth seeing.
"Mira!" I said and entered the room. The room had the fragrance of strawberry and mint, and all the cosmetics and beautiful scent that were used to adorn her, but the bride was not here. Where is she?
I went forward and opened the door to the balcony of the room. She was nowhere to be found and then my eyes met on the corner of the room and her clothes were lying there. I bent down to see them completely. It was the bridal dress and the jewellery. I covered my mouth in shock. Mira had run away.
I got up from there and quickly rushed downstairs. I had to inform each and everyone about this. As soon as I came out of the room, I could see fumes of smoke all around. What the hell was happening. "Viraj!!! Viraj!" I called out his name.
I was unable to see anything. There was a smell of burning everywhere. I started to walk on the corridor, easing my way by touching the pillars on the side. They were helping me to walk straight. The smoke was getting into my eyes and I was crying like mad. I couldn't hear anyone.
Being caught in a room with fire all around was terrifying and life-threatening situation. I was afraid and panicked. Where were the rest of the people? Had they all gone out?
Where was Viraj? Was he alright? Am I the only one who's left here? The air was thick with smoke, making it difficult for me to breathe and see clearly. Heat and flames were generating a scorching and suffocating environment, heightening my urgency to find an escape route.
I felt desperate, seeking any possible way to get out. "Is someone there!!!!" I yelled but no response came and suddenly out of nowhere a door frame, covered in fire came on my way. I jumped back hastily and landed on the floor. Fire was spreading everywhere and I couldn't see any way of getting out.
"Viraj!!!!", I was shouting and shrieking. I hope someone hears me. The tears were flowing incessantly from my eyes. I could see a little bit, I moved my hand to and fro to clear the smoke a little bit and then my eyes fell on the stairs. I needed him right now. Was he alright? Or was he somewhere here too! My mind was not working.
I tried to get up, my hand was in pain as I had fallen too hard on the ground. I grabbed the railing of the staircase and started my way downstairs. "Is someone here?" I was helplessly crying out for someone who could see me or hear me and help me.
Where did they all went? What had happened in just this much time? Was it possible that Mira was behind this? There were a lot many things going in my mind but no answers.
Instantly I don't know what happened that my leg slipped and I was now falling down the stairs. The edge of each stair case was hurting my back bone and below was all fire. The carpet, the curtains, the table covers, everything was burning and I wasn't able to hold on anything.
I was losing it... I was completely losing it...
VIRAJ'S POV
"Kanan! Where are you?" I looked around in the crowd of people gathered outside the banquet hall. The guests had been waiting for Mira to enter and so was the priest when the disaster started.
The curtain to the most left had started burning. "Oh God!!! There's fire spreading!" Someone had yelled from the corner and there started a chaos at the moment. There was a lot of havoc and Jackson had stood from his place. Everyone was getting panicked.
