Part Two: The Stars

Chaos lay back and gazed up at the stars, it was late at night and she probably wasn't going to sleep any time soon.

Among a few of her other problems, Chaos also had insomnia, so she spent a lot of time gazing up at the stars at night.

she and her team had been doing missions together for five weeks now, each of them had somehow been even more lame than the last.

'Chaos?'

She glanced down to the ground, Kakashi stood there.

'Kakashi,' she murmured.

'Kakashi-Sensei,' he corrected.

She had spent a lot of time gazing at the stars, she knew a lot of them by name.

Back at her home, she had quite a few books on stars.

Chaos smirked and gazed back up at the stars.

Kakashi walked up the base of the tree to stand on the branch next to her, 'Why aren't you at home?'

'No point being there, I like watching the stars.'

'What about your legal guardian?'

Chaos rolled her eyes, 'I don't have one.'

They were a team of orphans, Sasuke, Naruto, Chaos, all three had no parents and lived alone.

'Naruto and Sasuke still go home at night,' noted Kakashi.

'I'm not Naruto or Sasuke.'

'I know,' Kakashi sighed.

They gazed at the sky peacefully for several minutes.

'You'll need sleep for our next mission.'

Chaos let out a bark of laughter, 'Unlikely, our missions haven't exactly been difficult.'

'Come stay at my place for the night, you can meet Pakkun.'

'Pakkun?' Chaos looked vaguely interested.

'My summon, he's a dog.'

Chaos stood, 'sounds interesting.'

Kakashi felt somewhat content as Chaos followed him back to his house, he could barely hear her feet on the ground as she followed after him, and knew that if he didn't know she was there, he wouldn't hear her at all.

Chaos gazed around at all the dog beds, Pakkun came padding out of the kitchen.

She knelt to his height, 'Hello, I'm Chaos.'

Pakkun shot her a curious look, sniffing the offered hand, 'I'm Pakkun.'

————————

The next morning when Chaos woke up, there were several dogs curled up around her, keeping her slight frame toasty.

She stretched, then slowly climbed out of bed, doing her best not to bother any of the dogs.

Chaos stalked into the kitchen, Kakashi didn't notice her, he was sitting at the table reading his book.

At this point, she almost felt like she needed to make a noise for him to notice her.

Pakkun glanced up, 'Good morning, Chaos.'

She smiled and nodded to him.

'Chaos,' greeted Kakashi, his gaze brushed over her, 'Did you want to borrow a clean shirt and shorts?'

'Yes, please,' answered Chaos after a moment of hesitation.

Kakashi quickly grabbed one of the smallest shirts and smallest pairs of shorts he had, handing them over to the slight girl, she blinked at the clothes, 'can I borrow a belt?'
