~Brandon's POV~

When you move out of your parents home your expected to have high school finished, money, and a job. I only have one of those things completed. High school and did have a job but they fired me because I was late to many times for work. Wasn't my fault it was my old car and sadly it kept not starting on me. So with that I gave it to the junk yard and only with one bag on my back I headed west. That led me to California all the way from Arkansas. I didn't tell my parents I lost my job and I definitely didn't tell them I lived in my car at the time. Yet now it was past Thanksgiving and they asked if I was coming home. I said work was busy and try again another time. My mom sounded sad but understanding as my dad was busy watching football game to talk to me on the phone.

Now it was December 4th and my sleeping bag wasn't keeping me warm like it has been doing. A group of people passed out hot cocoa to all of us. That's when I met him. Cameron.

~Cameron's POV~

Growing up in California it's not all like Hollywood like everyone thinks. Sure we have the glam but we also have the behind the scenes. Here in Sacramento the capital it's not at all like Hollywood. I like being here more since it doesn't have the glam like Hollywood always claims to have. Every year I volunteer with the house less shelter Kelly. It was named after the founder who use to be house less themself but they got out of it with the help of support. Her goal was to spread that help to others too. She even has her photo up on the main entrance to show people that you can do it too. Right next to is a mirror to show that you are you and you can get better too.

One day with few other volunteers we made our round early December to pass out hot cocoa. We found a group of house less in a parking lot at a run down restaurant. I saw one guy by himself as I walked over smiling.
"Hi. Are you thirsty?"
I asked the red haired man who had curly red beard to match his hair. Even with a torn beanie you could see how bright his red hair was.
"Uh sure. You didn't spike it did you?"
I held it out as he took it and he held it before brining it up to his lips.
"No I promise. I'm with Kelly."
I pointed over to the school like bus we drove around, just in case we found any house less people who wanted to come back to the shelter.
"Oh thanks."
I watched him drink some as I saw he shiver from the wind. I noticed his jacket also had a few holes and it looked thinner then my sweater I was wearing.
"Welcome. I'm Cameron."
The red haired guy put the hot cocoa away from his lips and I saw he drank half of it.
"Brandon."
I held out my hand for him to shake and he held out the drink for me to take.
"Oh no I was going to shake your hand."
"Oh.. sorry I'm such an idiot."
He said as he put the drink back and shook my hand with his free hand.
"What? No you're not."
I saw him small smile as we shook hands I felt he even felt cold. How could someone with such cold hands have such a warm smile.
"Cameron?"
"Uh coming!"
I yelled out to the other volunteer Gloria before looking back at Brandon as he dropped our hands.
"Hey would you like a ride?"
"Oh no I'm good. But thanks."
He backed away with his drink and walked away. We weren't suppose to push them. If they said no we had to let them go. That was the saddest part when they didn't want help. I sighed before walking back to the bus and getting inside. Our volunteer Angel was talking to someone we picked up. Gloria was sitting down as I sat next to her with smile.
"Any plans for Christmas?"
She asked me as I shook my head.
"Well since I came out to my parents they said I can't come home. Quote no son of mine is a homosexual."
She rolled her eyes and gave me a side hug.
"I'm sorry. My parents would love to have you if you want to come to Mexico?"
"No sorry don't have a passport."
"Ah okay. But hey you text me if you need anything okay? No one should be alone for the holidays."
I nodded and looked out the window as the bus drove on. As she said that I saw a glance of red haired guy, Brandon with his hot cocoa cup.
"True."
