"Hannah Grace’s family," the nurse called out.(That’s my mommy’s name.)
The 6-year-old girl looked up at the person who called her mom's name, then she searched for her dad, who appeared anxious.
She got down from her grandma’s lap and went to hug her father’s leg to convey, "I am here, dad. Don't worry."Her dad patted her head and replied to the nurse, “Here!! How is she?”
The nurse acknowledged with a warm smile, “Both the baby and mom are doing fine. It’s a baby boy. Congratulations! There's just a small delay—the baby needs a final check in the nursery before meeting you.”
“Oh, thank you,” he said, sounding relieved and full of joy.
“It’s my pleasure,” the nurse replied with a warm smile before returning to the operating room. After some time, the nurse returned with the baby and handed him to the dad. As he held the baby, he felt a tug on his clothes.
Looking down, he met the curious eyes of his daughter. He sat in the visiting chair while holding the baby so she could see her brother.“Is he the one to whom I read my stories at night?”
“Yes, he is.”
“Daddy… the baby is sooo tiny!! Look,” she said, pointing to the baby’s fingers with a look of surprise.
“Yes, he's tiny now, but he will grow up just like you,” nostalgia hitting him as he remembered how she used to be.
“Dad… will he love me?”
Detecting uncertainty in her tone, he gave her a little pat on the shoulder for comfort and said, “Of course he will. He loves you more than you might think. You'll be the best sister to him.”
Then he passed the baby to the elders and picked her up, saying, “Come on, Lulu, let’s go buy ice cream.”
“Bye, little bro!” she exclaimed, going with her dad, full of joy.
(Yes! Daddy loves me.)
