In The Car - 12:40PM.

Alex's POV

"My hair is barely holding up in this wind." I say looking in the mirror that you put down whenever the sun is in your eyes. I have no clue what it's called and it doesn't bother me in the slightest.

"You'll be fine." Sebastian says on the other line.

My head tilts to my phone that is on speaker sitting in the cup holder. "And how do you know that?" I say.

"Because you're beautiful either way." He says.

My cheeks flush up like a tomato in the mirror I'm looking in when I push it back up with a thud. "So are we going out tonight." Sebastian says.

"Didn't we go out a couple days ago?" I say in response.

"Thought you didn't care."

"I don't but-"

"Okay then, I'm picking you up at 10." He says cutting me off.

I sigh at this when I open my mouth to say something but the passenger door opens and appears a stressed Isabella. She sits down eagerly and puts on her seatbelt very fast.

"Drive." She says.

I grab my phone to hang up on Sebastian when I hear a loud sigh escape my best friend. "Please!" Ivy says her face saying it all. The picnic with her father didn't go as planned, my guess.

"You're the boss. Where to?"

"Anywhere but here." She says.

"Okey dokey." I say then start to back up.

Alex's POV

The drive back has been silent other then the music that is on at a good volume. Ivy hasn't said a word in the last 15 minutes from my time on the radio. I talk time to time about her birthday, the weather, I even mentioned James but she just nods in response. There is definitely tension between those two I just need to put on my detective hat and figure it out.

"Hi can I get a mocha latte' please?" I say to the speaker. She did say anywhere but here so I stopped by a coffee place.

"Okay anything else?" The woman says.

I turn to Ivy who is eyeing the menu then looks back at me. "I'll take a caramel frappe." She yells to the microphone.

"That's all." I say.

"Okay you're total is 8.50." The woman says.

I keep my window rolled down as I take out a $10 dollar bill that was in my pocket to pay. "Thank you." Ivy says out of nowhere.

"For the coffee? You don't need to. Call it a second birthday gift." I say then smile to her.

"Not that but taking me away from that... disaster of a picnic." She says.

I pull up to the window and give the lady the bill that is all folded up. "It was that bad?" I ask.

Ivy nods her head, "Why would he try and recreate something he knows will never be the same? He's stupid." She says. My best friend has always been on the impulsive side of things but I have never heard her say anything that bad about her family relatives.

The woman hands me my change as I take it and throw the coins into the cup holders and stuff the bills into my pocket with ease. Once I do that I turn my attention back to Ivy.
