Pretend Boyfriend>
I huddle my face against my blanket as tears fall from my eyes and dry on it. Blankets are very significant objects when it comes to watching A Walk to Remember. My friends, Drake and Hayden give me weird looks (which I ignore) as I replay the part where the girl tells the guy she has leukemia. This movie is the saddest movie ever and the key to getting girls to fawn over me.
“Aww Darian, it’s okay.” Jennifer, Drake’s crush, said as she stroked my chestnut hair. I glance at Drake and grin when I notice that his face is starting to get even more red than usual when Jennifer is around. He is so jealous. Wahahaha! Good.
I pat my eyes with my blanket. “I-it’s j-just not fair. They really loved each other. “Jennifer presses my head against her gigantic boobs. Win. They’re fake, but still, win.
“You’ve seen this movie like ten times so just get over it.” Hayden says with his head on his hand with a bored expression on his face. He would rather be home taking a nap but I dragged him here to help me make Drake jealous. He ate the last of my cream puffs last week. I shall have my revenge.
Hayden yawns and ignores Claire, Jennifer’s best friend, as she clearly tries to get his attention with her wonderful boobs. Sometimes I think that boy plays for the same team.
“Leave him alone, Hayden.” Jennifer puckers her lips in a freakish way when she’s upset. It’s kind of weird and kind of hot. “You guys should be more like Darian.”
If there’s one thing that will make girls melt, it’s a sensitive guy that cries over sappy movies.
Jennifer plants a small kiss on my cheek. “It’s okay. Baby.” Drake claws at my couch. Suffer. Mwahahahaha. Suffer!
When the movie cuts to commercial, I look at the clock. It’s 10:45. Dad is at work of course and John won’t be home until 12 o’clock. Good. Enough time for my friends to leave and for me to talk to Pierce about what we saw last week.
I flashback to last week’s big scenario; Pierce and I came home early because he got in a fight. I tried to back him up but we still both ended up getting kicked out of school for a day. Life sucks when you punch a guy in the face for calling you “homo freak” and you end up getting in trouble for it even though none of it was your fault.
Anyways, we walked home and found the door unlocked so we walked in. Pierce headed up to shower and I went to the living room to watch some cartoons. What, real men watch Spongebob and aren’t afraid to admit it.
As I sat there watching Spongebob, Pierce came from behind and held his hand over my mouth and told me to be quiet. I yell at him but it only came out in mumbles. I try to force his hand away but he’s a strong MOFO.
He takes his hand away and tells me to shush and follow him. He’s a very persuasive guy so I do. We tip toe upstairs and as I get closer I hear talking. It’s Dad and John, his high school friend.
“We shouldn’t be doing this.” Dad said. Pierce and I look through the crack in the door to Dad’s room.
“But you said it didn’t bother you.” John said while stroking Dad’s hair. Where is the tough Dad that I know? This one looks helpless!
“I didn’t at first but every time I look at Darian, I feel guilty.” Dad is near tears. I’m thinking, what the hell is going on with our Dads?
“We’re not doing anything you should feel guilty about.” John kisses Dad on the cheek. Please tell me that doesn’t mean what I think it means.
“But..” John stops my Dad from finishing by kissing him directly on the lips. That was all I could take. I turn away and run out down stairs and out the house. Pierce grabs me before I can get far and gives me a sympathetic look. I couldn’t explain the feeling I felt. It was either betrayal or anger. Maybe both.
