Background: Kaito was a junior college student of Ethan at the university with a major in biochemistry, Kaito coincidentally witnessed the brutal murder of a road worker by a member of the secret terrorist society known only as Destron, which appeared after the destruction of Gel Shocker and continued its predecessors' goal of world domination. After Kaito nearly got murdered by Destron's agents, Ethan decided to keep a close eye to protect him. To rid Destron of its witness, and taking no chances, Scissors Jaguar murdered Kaito's mother, father, and younger sister. Though, he was forced to watch his entire family die before his eyes, Kaito was saved from the same grisly fate by the interference of Kamen Rider Ichigo and Nigo. Witnessing what their mistakes had cost, the Double Riders decided to confront Destron on their own terms rather than continue waiting for an opportunity to strike. Bent on revenge for his family's deaths, Kaito pleaded for the Kamen Riders to give him the power to fight Destron like them. The Double Riders refuse at first, but after Kaito was fatally wounded while saving them, the two decided to honor his wish and convert him into a cyborg as they are going to perform the reconstruction surgery to save his life. After the Double Riders successfully converted him into a cyborg, Kaito became Kamen Rider V3. When V3 finished off his family's murderer, Scissors Jaguar, he saw the Double Riders taking Turtle Bazooka away from the Tokyo city just before the nuclear bomb inside of him explodes, seemingly sacrificing themselves in the explosion. A horrified V3 then shouts out the Double Riders' names, with the two responding via telepathy. Reassuring V3 that they were alive, Kamen Rider Ichigo and Nigo ask him to protect Japan in their stead, as both of them knew they were required to fight Destron's branches overseas before returning. Witnessing Ethan and Dexter's selfless actions and recognizing the responsibilities of being a Kamen Rider, he vowed to fight for all those in need, his powers as Kamen Rider V3 being needed to stop Destron.
