Tara's POV

"I can't believe this room" My best friend, Lynette Mills said. She came over to my place the second she got back from summer camp. I didn't even know she was to return today and surprising me causing a shriek out of me when I saw her. My dad worriedly rushed to the patio to see us hugging and shook his head. He said he doesn't get why girls shriek like that.

"I've never seen a room this organized in my life except my mom's of course how do y'all do that?" She stood in the middle of my room, shaking her head. She jumped on my bed and I followed her.

"Well, it takes discipline something you clearly lack and refuse to learn from me" I responded cheekily.

"Oh fuck off" She flicked my forehead making me yelp in pain. "Anyways you've got to come over and help me get organized before school starts which is tomorrow"

"Well, since I seem to be all ready for school and have nothing to do at the moment why don't we go over to yours and tell me all about the summer camp."

"Great idea" She said as I grabbed my phone and we stepped out of my room.

Reaching the living room which was empty, I screamed for my mom and head a response from the kitchen. I rushed over to her informing her of my departure. She told me to be back before dinner.

"So, summer camp, tell me, tell me, tell me" I jumped up and down on the street.

"First off this summer camp was incredible and absolutely the best. It was seriously the best summer ever"

"Oh right right so summer with me ain't fun. Right, I see how it is" I said feigning sadness.

"You know it ain't like that but girl it was just amazing. I met new people. We did everything together. You know I'm not really into people and all but damn I had fun. From hiking into the woods to putting on talent shows, to campfires and roasting marshmallows"

"I can see you had fun. Maybe I should have gone with you?"

"Maybe you should have but you know you can't be in the woods" She answered sadly.

"It was a one time event my parents are being too paranoid"

"Yeah a one time event that almost took your life we ain't risking nothing" She answered and continued talking till we got to her house.

"Good afternoon Miss Loretta" I greeted her mom once we stepped into the house.

"Hey Tara, how are you doing?" She came over giving me a brief hug.

"I'm alright"

"That's great. Did you tell Rita about the potato salad?"

"Yeah I did she promised to come this week for it. But you could call to remind her you know how she is?"

"You don't need to tell me" She said and we both laughed. Lynette and I rushed up to her room to avoid further conversations. Miss Loretta and my mom had being friends since college. She introduced my mom to this neighborhood when my parents wanted to relocate. That brought Lynette and I together when I was 6. We became bestfriends almost immediately.

"Damn" I said once I got to her messed up room.

"It's not that bad"

"Not that bad. Girl, your clothes are all over the place. Does your mom come in here?" I asked picking up her clothes from the ground.

"No, I don't let her. Besides, I just got pack from the camp. I just put my stuff anywhere so I could come see you quickly because I missed you" She said giving me puppy eyes.

"I missed you too. But do not use me as an excuse as if your room isn't always like this" She threw her stuffed bear at me and both laughed.

I stayed over at her place, helping her pack up and talking about whatever happened at the camp.

"So you remember Ian right from school, we use to have Maths together?"

"Yeah, you met him there?"

"Yeahh, and we got really really really close?"

"What are you telling me?" I asked amusingly

"Ian is my boyfriend" She said and I shrieked hugging her.

"Oh my goodness, I'm so happy for you"

"And we did the nasty"

"Lynette really? You went for the camp for only a month. You sure you know him enough to be doing all that?" I asked disapprovingly. She let out a breath.

"I don't know Tara. But I really like him. I haven't felt this way since Bronx and I wanted to give it a chance"

"You know I love you. I would always support you but you have to be careful. Okay"

Later, she walked me to my house since it was getting late and I didn't want to miss dinner. After dinner, I took a bath washing my hair. I wrapped myself in a towel and left the steamy bathroom sitting in front of my dressing mirror. My dad said over dinner that he would be going away till Thanksgiving. He's never been away that long. But my console was fall goes a lot faster so he would be home soon.

My phone dinged with a message. Looking at my phone, I immediately smiled calling the number.

"Hello" Ryan, my boyfriend said after the first ring.

"Hey babe, what's up? I haven't heard from you all day"

"I'm sorry for not getting in touch, the boys came over for video games. We've been at it since morning" He replied laughing.

"You know tomorrow we have school right?"

"Don't worry I can handle that"

"Okay I won't worry. I missed you"

"I miss you too babe. I'll definitely see you tomorrow right?"

"Of course, I'm not one to miss a first day" I replied and he laughed.

"Nerd" He did not just do that.

"No I'm not"

"Yes you are"

"No I'm not"

"I love you" He said catching me of guard causing me to blush.

"I love you too"

"Alright, catch some sleep. I'll see you tomorrow"

"Goodnight" I said and hang up. I dressed up and got into my bed. I looked at the ceiling hoping this year goes on great without any challenges.
