WINNIE EDEN HAD ONE dream growing up. She wanted to be a singer and hear her songs on the radio. She wanted people to know her name and know her songs. Her dream had been within her grasp but it all derailed quickly when she found out her producer had been two-timing her and didn't have any plan on actually producing her or sending out her music.
So, she fled Los Angeles, the place she had called home since she was born, and drove. Her final destination was New York where one of her friends lived who had offered her a place to stay while she got back on her feet.
Somehow, on her way to New York, she ended up in Montana on a ranch. How she ended up there, she had no idea. She was a city girl and knew nothing about horses.
MATILDA WHEELER WAS BORN and raised in Montana. When she was 7, she witnessed her entire family's murder, aside from her older brother who ended up saving her at the hands of their stepfather. After being orphaned, the two of them were taken in by the Duttons, who raised them until Matilda turned 18.
The moment 7-year-old Kayce Dutton saw Matilda Wheeler, he was infatuated. As time went on, that infatuation grew from a teeny crush to a full-blown love affair. As time went on, their love only grew, but there was a nagging feeling at the bottom of Matilda's stomach that only grew as time went on.
Kayce knew that Matilda hated Montana. She hated the memories that came with it. He knew he couldn't hold her back, so when she turned 18, he knew she was going to leave, so he let her go.
MATILDA KNEW IF SHE didn't get out, it would kill her, but even if you leave the ranch, the ranch never really leaves you.
