"Took your time" My father said as I walked through his office, sipping on his whisky. I rolled my eyes and shut the door behind me, "I was busy, your lucky I came at all."
My mom was standing behind my dad, who sat at his desk. Giovanni Russo stood by the fire place, looking into the flames as his wife held his hand. My older brothers stood next to Alexi, in the corner of the room and my twin was sat in-front of my fathers desk.
Tino and Alexi had a confused expression on their faces while everyone else looked nervous.
"The fuck is going on?"
1 hour earlier...
The sound of the tap ran and the icy water glided over my red hands. The colour mixed in with the clear one and continued down the drain. A knife placed on the counter with the same cherry-red colour on the metal.
I dried my hands and left the weapon there, I didn't bother cleaning the house to hide the struggle of the man I had just murdered.
His wife would probably be traumatised when she came back but I didn't care. The body of the man was limp on the floor, no life remained in his eyes, and the small area of skin that didn't have his blood on, was white as snow.
I took one last look at my...art work, before my phone started to ring in my pocket. I answered it after seeing the contact was my dad, "come home."
"Nice to hear from you too, Dad.-" I said sarcastically, he sighed, "Val, we need you here. Also, have you heard from your mother?" He asked. "No. I haven't spoken to her since yesterday. I was about to come back anyway." I left the door open ajar and walked down the street to my car, "how long will you be?"
I shrugged, even tho I knew he couldn't see, "probably like half an hour, if I speed-" "yeah okay. When your home come straight to my office. Bye, love you, drive safe."
An hour after...
My dad took a deep breath and closed his eyes as I took a seat next to my twin.
"Before you say anything I need you to listen to the full story, okay?" We nodded and Tino grabbed my hand. We both had a feeling something wasn't right.
"18 years ago, The Italian Mafia were getting threats. Threats to kill their youngest children, to make Giovanni and Carla suffer in ways and the enemy knew by hurting these innocent children...it would break them. Their mafia would fall. Their family would be destroyed."
He took another breath and continued.
"Me and Gio had been best friends since childhood. We trusted each other with our lives so that is why he sent his youngest children to live with me. To keep them, love them. Protect them with my life.
