I walked into medium sized restaurant. It seemed as if everyone was staring at me. I looked around watching everyone be silent as they stared at me. I looked back straight and walked to the front desk. "Table for 1." I said to the lady. "Okay!" She said. She dragged me back near a empty nice, prepared table. she went past it and kept walking. we walked for a while un till we were finally in the restaurants back. she walked me into a small, closet sized room. I sat down at the broken down table with a missing leg. the table was 1/3 of my size and looked like it came from a preschool. I remember all the other tables, proper size and ready to go. this one had stains on the napkins and the silver ware still had food on them. the chair was missing a leg as well and made bouncing noises when you sit on it. I looked up at the waiter, hoping she would get my point that I hated were she placed me & my table. but she looked down smiling. Why was she smiling? I was upset and sorrowed. Why would people be so mean, so rude, do they care? Am I the only one who seems to care about everyone.

After leaving my un steady table I walked home because the bus fee was 30.00 for me at least, and my family & race. I looked down the sidewalk and the bus it speed past me. I looked in through the window. White: front, black: back. that's the way it always been. Though I did not think it was fair I still had to deal with it. The white's always seemed so happy, trey get everything they want. At some points I wish I was a different race but my father always says not to think that way.

Once I was at home it was 9:00 the time I would usually try and get to bed. I walked in. My father & mother also asleep, or that's what I assumed. I walked into the kitchen to drop my little wallet and take my coat off. I made a quick coffee and sat down. Their was a small note that read

"Nia,

Workers toke us to be slaves we love-" that's all. they toke my family. Why would they do that?

I went to my bedroom and fell asleep fast. I woke up to the sound of sirens I quickly ran outside to see what all the commotion is about. I saw police outside my street they were dragging out my neighbors. first thought: they are coming for me. I quickly gathered up a small bag and ran out the back door. I walked into the forest.

Now, I was in the middle of a forest trying to get some sleep. I was leaning against a small tree just strong enough to carry my backs weight. I looked at the tree across from me. Their was a little girl hidden behind the small tree. I walked over. She did not say I word but hopped up into my arms. "Where's my momma?" She asked. "Shhh! Don't cry!" I said walking back over to my tree. Once I was down and she was next to me I placed a blanket over her to comfort her. "My name is beca." She said looking up at me. "I'm nia, I'll help you beca," I said. She looked back up at me. "Thank you." She whispered.

I woke up at about 7:00 I would say, I grabbed beca and starting walking south to start a new life, maybe were people would not judge me by my color and beca's. beca woke up. "Nia!" She said. "Yes!" I said. "Where are we?" she asked. "We are heading south." I said. "Oh!" She said. She hopped out of my arms and started walking with me. She holded my hand as we walked south, I wanted to be with her my whole life she made me feel less lonely. Her dry skin reminded me that we'll find away from this hard life and start one the was clear and clean.

It was now time for us to go to sleep. beca went down quickly well I stayed up late. I looked at beca's beautiful face. I never wanted her to be harmed. She was precious. Now I was a sleep.

I woke up and looked to my right the side beca was on. She was gone. No! No! Beca was the only thing I had. She was the only hope. "Beca!" I said. "Beca!" I screamed this time. Tears filled my eye's. after a while I stopped and kept walking. I walked a little faster this time. I did not like being alone. I hated it. I finally found a small light in the dark forest. It was a high way. I ran to it. I walked to the nearest convenient store. "Hello!" I said as I rushed through the door. A black man was standing in the line carrying a little jar of milk and a small container of eggs. "You made it," he said. "I did!" I said.

It was now night I found myself sleeping in a small bed in the black persons house. I woke up fairly early to begin my life fresh. I walked into their tiny dinning room. None of the family was their. I still kept walking. I walked out the door and down the street a little. I saw a huge crowd at a big field with a huge stage. Their was a black men telling a speech. I saw the family I stayed with. "Dear, nia!" He said. I walked closer. "You made it!" He said. "I did!" I said. "Thank you!" I continued. "Hush now!" He said. I stopped talking. "I had a dream, that my 4 children would be judged by the content of their character nor the color of their skin," he began. I listen closely to his long meaningful speech. "Thank you!" He said walking off when he finished. I met up with him after seeing his performance. "Your truly inspiring, doing this for us!" I said to him. "We should be free," he said. "We are halfway their," he said. "We are," he said. I left thinking about what he was saying.

A couple days later.

I was still staying at my temporary home with the man. Me & his wife & children sat in the house's living room. We were watching a little cartoon that the kids enjoyed when suddenly the TV blanked out and showed something other then the cartoon. "Life Changing News! The black have now been faired and evened with the white. Papers have been signed and detected. Congrats!" Mark Robinson said. He was a famous interviewer. Anyways my mind froze, we are equal now! I prayed and thanked The Lord my mother and god were looking down at me. Life is now good. This moment will always be amazing.
