INT. PACIFICA'S MANSION - NIGHT
She opens a text message from MASON GLEEFUL, a boy with brown hair and blue eyes who is wearing a black suit and a blue tie with a pine tree symbol. He is a 13-year-old magician who is famous for his mesmerizing performances and ruthless personality. He is also Pacifica's boyfriend.
The text message reads:
MASON: Hey, Pacifica. I'm sorry I can't see you tonight. I have to work on some important stuff.
PACIFICA (V.O.)
That's Mason. He's the coolest guy in town. He's smart, handsome, and powerful. He's also the only person who ever treated me like an equal.
She types a reply:
PACIFICA: It's okay, Mason. I understand. You're busy.
She sends the message and sighs.
PACIFICA (V.O.)
But he's also very distant. He hardly ever spends time with me. He always has some secret project or mission to do. He never tells me what he's really up to.
She looks at her phone again and sees another text message from Mason.
MASON: Thanks for being so understanding, Pacifica. You're the best.
PACIFICA (V.O.)
He always says that. But does he really mean it? Does he really care about me? Or am I just another pawn in his game?
She types another reply:
PACIFICA: You're welcome, Mason. You're the best too.
She sends the message and smiles sadly.
PACIFICA (V.O.)
I wish I knew what he was hiding from me. I wish I could get closer to him. I wish I could make him love me.
She puts her phone away and lies down on her bed.
PACIFICA (V.O.)
Maybe someday...
EXT. GRAVITY FALLS - DAY
The next day, Pacifica is walking around the town of Gravity Falls, Oregon. A small and quirky town that is full of strange creatures and phenomena.
She is bored and lonely. She has no friends, except for Mason. And he's not even here.
She passes by various shops and attractions, but nothing catches her interest.
She sees the Mystery Shack, a tourist trap that sells cheap souvenirs and fake mysteries. She scoffs at it.
PACIFICA (V.O.)
The Mystery Shack. What a joke. That place is run by some old con man who claims to be Mason's uncle. He's always trying to scam people with his lame tricks and lies.
She sees the Tent of Telepathy, a large purple tent that hosts Mason and Mabel's magic shows. She smiles at it.
PACIFICA (V.O.)
The Tent of Telepathy. That's where Mason and Mabel perform their amazing acts of magic. They're so talented and popular. Everyone loves them.
She sees MABEL GLEEFUL, a girl with brown hair and blue eyes who is wearing a pink sweater with a shooting star symbol and a matching skirt. She is Mason's twin sister and partner in crime. She is also Pacifica's rival and enemy.
Mabel is walking with CANDY CHIU and GRENDA GRENDAWALD, two girls who are wearing matching sweaters with heart symbols. They are Mabel's best friends and minions.
MABEL
Hi, Pacifica!
CANDY
Hi, Pacifica!
GRENDA
Hi, Pacifica!
They wave at her sarcastically.
PACIFICA (V.O.)
And that's Mabel. She's Mason's twin sister and partner in crime. She's also my rival and enemy.
