Jewel's POV
It's been five weeks since the wedding. Jax is now twenty-six weeks old, six and half months old if you prefer. Not a lot has happened since Bella married Edward. Aside from Bella getting sick on her honeymoon. It was her nineteenth birthday yesterday. We haven't had an update on her condition for nearly a week and Charlie is worried.
We're in the woods by the house. Charlie chopping up some fire wood. While I lay beside him watching. Jax is playing with his favourite ball. I raise my head when I hear Jacob's motorbike approaching. I get to my feet and Charlie looks at me confused.
Until he notices Jacob. "Hey. You heard anything?" he asks him. As Jax trots over to me.
"Charlie, Bella is... Uh..." Jacob struggles to say.
"No, she's not" Charlie tells him.
"No, no, no, I mean, she's fine. She's back home and she's feeling better" Jacob assures him.
"Why didn't you say so? That's great" Charlie tells him. He signals Jax and I to follow him. And we do so as he heads back towards our home.
"Wait. There's something you need to see first" Jacob tells him.
"I need to see Bella" Charlie tells him.
"Look, in order for Bella to get better, she had to change" Jacob explains. I frown cocking my head in confusion. Change? Change how?
'What is he talking about mum?' Jax asks me and I shrug. As we look at Jacob with Charlie. I can tell Charlie is just as confused as we are.
"What do you mean, "change"?" Charlie asks Jacob.
"Here goes nothing" Jacob mutters and starts to strip in front of us.
"What the hell are you doing?" Charlie demands.
"You don't live in the world you think you do" Jacob tells Charlie.
"Jacob, put your clothes on" Charlie tells him.
"Now, this may seem strange. Really strange. But stranger things happen every day. Trust me" Jacob tells him. Suddenly Jacob shifts into his wolf form in front of Charlie, who looks shocked. I bark loudly jumping in front of Charlie, hackles up snarling at the large wolf.Who lays down with a whine showing he means no harm.
"Easy Jewel" Charlie tells me placing a calming hand on my back. "Jacob, is it really you in there?" he asks the wolf. Who nods his head. He changes back and gets dressed then tell Charlie about what he is. Before leaving. Charlie takes a few minutes to collect himself as he takes the firewood inside. Before we get in the police cruiser and he drives us to the Cullen house.
We're greeted by Carlisle and I take a deep breath as Charlie talks to him. I frown, I don't smell Bella. Carlisle leads us to the living room where Bella is on the couch with Edward. She looks different, like a Cullen. Jax runs over and whines when he sniffs Bella. 'She smells different' he tells me. I walk over as Bella and Charlie exchange hellos.
"Hello girl" Bell says looking at me with a small smile. I notice something off about her brown eyes. But ignore it as I take a whiff of her and flatten my ears. She does smell different, like a Cullen now.
"Are you okay?" Charlie asks her.
"Never better. Healthy as a horse" she assure shim. As I back away with Jax, both unsure what to think of Bella's new scent.
"You don't turn into an animal, too, do you?" he asks her.
"She wishes she were that awesome" Jacob tells him jokingly.
"Let's give them some privacy" Edward suggests. Before leaving the room with his dad and Jacob.
"I see Jax has grown up a lot since the wedding" Bella states.
"He has" dad agrees. "Uh, Jake said that this... This was necessary. What does that mean?" he asks her confused.
"I really think it would be better..." Bella starts to say.
"I wanna know what happened to you" Charlie tells her.
"I can't tell you" she tells him.
"I think I deserve an explanation" he states. It'd be nice to know why she smells different.
"You do. But if you really need one, I can't stay here" Bella tells him.
"Oh, come on! No! No more going away!" he snaps.
"Dad, you're just gonna have to trust that for whatever reason, I'm all right. I'm more than all right. Can you live with that?" she asks him pleadingly
"Can I live with that?" he asks himself. "Well, I don't know, Bella. I mean, I just watched a kid I've known his entire life turn into a very large dog. My daughter looks like my daughter. But doesn't" he rants.
"Can you please just believe that I'll tell you anything that you need to know?" Bella asks him.
"And I don't need to know this?" he asks her.
"No. Really, you don't" she tell him.
"Well... Not I'm gonna lose you again. I can't" he tells her.
"Then you won't. I promise" she assures him. He pulls her into a hug, which she returns hesitantly. Almost like she's afraid she'd hurt him..
"I missed you, Bells. So much" he tells her. "So did Jax and Jewel" he adds.
"I missed you all, Dad" she tells him. As they pull away Edward enters the room holding a baby. Jax yips happily running over to greet them. He loves kids, they always give him food.
"Charlie. This is Renesmee" Edward tells him. I sniff her and wag my tail, she smells like Bella.
"Your niece?" Charlie asks.
"Our daughter" Edward corrects him. That'd explain why she smiles like Bella. Looks like her too. Bella smiles as she stands beside Edward.
"Right. The adoption" Charlie mutters. Then looks at Renesmee. "Renee-semee? She's got your eyes, Bella" he states. She just smiles at him. "Need to know, I guess" he says. We spend an hour with them. Renesmee loved playing with Jax and I watch them with a soft smile. While Charlie caught up with Bella and Edward. Until the sun began to set and we go home for dinner.
