Temptations

Finally, I got off the train and ran to school as fast as my legs could run.

I had to catch up with him and confess everything before it was all too late. I need to tell him I feel forever about him. About us.

Reaching the gates to the school, there was less than five minutes before his class started. I could still catch up. I'm going to catch up.

Running fast, I felt my side ache and my heartburn as I tried to catch my breath. I pushed past the students who were eager to get to their classrooms.

I see him. Oh my gosh, I see him!

I bolted for him, knocking every student in my way, and I catch up to him, grabbing his shoulder and turning him to face me. He's here, right in front of me.

"Hi," I say with a smile and through heavy breathing.

His eyes blinked in shock. "Hi, Serena."

Dude. He's right in front of you. Say something!

"Hello? Serena?" he says, waving his hand in front of me when he caught me staring too long.

"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry."

He laughs it off. "Is there something wrong?"

Fuck it. "Jayden... I love you."

His eyes widened and the bell rang. Jayden didn't move nor said a word. My heart beated and my neck was sweating, and I can't think straight. All I wait for is his response.

"Please say something," I let out when he was still inaudible for the next passing moments. I was hoping to get an immediate response or rejection rather than a few minutes of silence.

I didn't take my eyes off him as did he. We were two idiots standing in an empty hallway while the rest of the students were in class.

I've anticipated this moment my entire life and now that it was actually happening, I'm starting to feel foolish of the entire confession. He's just standing there not moving a muscle... at least not that I could see.

Finally, he breathes out, "Come with me." and takes my hand in his.

He drags me to an empty room. This room looked weird when we first went in because it didn't look like a room I recognized, and I found it odd how he was the only one who had access to it. I didn't recognize this room at campus — and I've travelled around the entire campus a lot and have never in my life seen this room before.

"Where are we?" I asked Jayden as he was grabbing something from a dark oak drawer from the corner of the room. My eyes roamed as I observed the area. Very dark is all I could describe. There was barely any light that illuminated it—the hanging lamps did little help to light up the room. No windows or anything, a curved couch and a coffee table located in the center of the room along with the elegant maroon carpeting. Other intricate tables that looked something out of the Palace were placed on other sides of the room, flowered vases sat atop them.

"My secret space," he said after finding the things he was rummaging the drawer for. "Being the son who owns the entire place has its perks, you know." He walks toward me and tucks the thing he grabbed in his back pocket.

Not questing him what he just hid, I said, "How long have you had this room? It looks a bit empty; don't you think?" I turned to face him, and he was so much closer than before.

"I've had this for as long as I can remember," he says, his breath fanning into my ear as I heard his low growl. He exhales sharply before saying, "You said 'you loved me'? Did I hear that correct, dear?"
