Chapter 8- TLO 2

Taylor's POV

April 22nd

– I sit and watch you…

I smile at my gentle dancer while our crew push our table to the inside of the stage and I do my little Victory dance before starting to run backstage to get to my dressing room.

But it is dark as hell and I trip on the hem of my orange dress and instinctively put my hand to brace the fall.

– Fuck! – I feel a sharp pain.

My eyes teary in pain as someone helps me to get up. We get to my dressing room and I finally see I'm bleeding.

Actually, I lost a chunk of skin.

– We are getting the doctor to check on you.– one of the girls says and leaves.

– No, there's no time, but thank you.

– It's not an offer, it's an order.– Tree says arriving at the room while they help me on the reputation outfit.

– Okay, guys, thanks for the concern but I didn't break a bone or something. – I roll my eyes, annoyed with their concern.

I put a napkin over my cut just to clean the blood and sigh. This is not looking too great. As I'm getting up to leave the dressing room, Dr Ross takes a look at my hand.

– Ouch, it's a big cut but we can't suture because there's no skin left. There's no time to look at this now, in the next change we clean and put a Band-aid over it. – She says and I thank her, running back just in time to enter the reputation set.

I perform like there's nothing happening and whisper that I'm fine at the backup singers and dancers when they look at my injury.

There's a bit of remaining skin hanging on and based  on the reaction of some fans it's visible. Trying not to make them uncomfortable, I try not to show my palm  much but of course this will be all over the internet tomorrow.

I run backstage this time to put on the enchanted dress, but before I can protest the doctor takes my hand and put on soap to clean the cut and I want to scream at her.

– Fuck this hurts.– I say out of breath as she drives it with a special paper and puts on a simple band-aid.

– Here. It's temporary, we are making a better aid when you get ready to go on folklore set when we have more time.

I nod.

I'm grateful that I don't need stitches because this means avoiding anesthesia, which means avoiding a needle, but as I'm performing I see this is going to take time to heal. It's burning a little and as I'm moving a lot it's still bleeding.

I should have taken it seriously when I read in the newspaper that Mercury is in retrograde.

Finally before the 1989 set they put my hand on a firm sports bandage that holds the aid and the blood stops, and I haven't any more trouble for the rest of the show.

– Hey guys, one more amazing show! – I say as I walk backstage giving hi-5 to my amazing team.

– What happened, honey?– Mom says as she notices the bandage.

– I fell backstage running to change into the rep outfit. I lost a bit of skin but it's fine.

She shakes her head and Claire laughs.

– What is funny, troublemaker?

– " I gave my blood, sweat and tears for this"– she sings and me and mom join her laugh.
