The Cullen household was often silent, of course, it could be chaotic at times, but a slight silence mostly overtook the home. A place full of vampires trying to find a cure for their lasting boredom was destined to be odd like so. Aurora simply liked to sit on the balcony, or in her room which held a wall of glass, and listen to the sounds of nature surrounding them. She liked to watch the time go by, taking everything but the unmoving vampires with it. Nature always seemed to shine in miraculous ways, from the beautiful birds to the ever growing plants.

Unfortunately, as the sun arose, waking life in the small rainy town with it, they would put on their pretenses. Despite their old mental ages, the vampires who were turned young would be forced to spend their days in high school. A place full of loud, hormonal teenagers, attracted by the beautiful features bestowed upon the predators. The quiet talk that seemed to echo into her ears, the fixated or jealous stares, and the scents, oh the sweaty, perfumed layered scents, it all tired Aurora.

She had long since stopped counting the number of schools she had attended, for it was too many. One after another, it was always the same routine. Although they would often change roles, Aurora almost always ended up a student of some kind. It had begun to get boring for the girl. She loved learning new things but their way of living always took a toll on them.

Despite the repetitive actions as they climbed into their respective vehicles, Alice's face held a giddy smile. The pixie-like girl was always an excitable being but on this particular day, she was practically buzzing.

"What is it, Alice?" Aurora finally asked from the backseat, her eyes watching the passing greenery, breaking the silence filled with nothing but the whisper of classical music, "You look like a child on a sugar high."

The small girl turned around in the passenger seat, sounding a bell-like laugh at Aurora's question. "Oh, it'll be wonderful, Rory."

She refused to elaborate as they pulled into the school parking lot, leaving Aurora to look to Edward for answers. He looked agitated as Alice skipped out of the car, a bright smile on her face.

He glanced at her through the rearview mirror before grumbling, "I don't know."

She hummed as they climbed out of the car, "So I figured."

The parking lot still held a few lingering teenagers, only they seemed more excited than usual. Electrified whispers echoed throughout the lot, and eyes turned eagerly toward the entrance as if to catch sight of something.

The new girl...Chief Swan..Isabella...

Gossip flew from ear to ear, all because of Chief Swan's daughter coming back to town. It was the talk among the school.

Aurora decided to ignore the whispers, walking slightly behind her siblings as the bell rang.

As the hours flew by, the gossip died down. Of course, they still spoke of the girl, they had just gotten bored while waiting for a peek at her.

By the time lunchtime came around, everything seemed normal. As long as you didn't count Alice's ever-growing excitement, she was waiting for something to happen as she practically bounced from wall to wall.

Their entrance into the cafeteria caused the normal whispers to start, although she did catch a brief glance of a new brunette, she ignored it.

Sitting at their normal table, something seemed off. It was more quiet than usual, not even Alice was chattering away to them. Her eyes constantly flickering to Edward, her grin ever growing.

Edward seemed to stare at something from the seat beside Aurora, his brows furrowed with dark eyes. Following his gaze, she rests her eyes on a human, a new girl. The young girl's eyes wide like a newborn deer as she noticed their looks.

She had attempted to stare discretely but it was noticeable to their sharp eyes. Aurora could recognize the look on her face, the human was entranced. She had seen it on many faces through the decades, the fragile beings unable to resist their supernatural charms, the strange beauty gifted at the price of their mortal lives.

Unfortunately, Aurora could also recognize the look on Edward's face. Sure it was deeply covered by his intense gaze, but she had seen it on many. She and seen it firsthand on Carlisle and Esme upon their meeting, she had seen it on Rosalie and Emmett. Hidden underneath of what could only be interpreted as bloodlust, was attraction. Oh dear god.

"Oh Edward..." Aurora sympathized as she glanced between her ever glaring brother and the human girl who had turned away in embarrassment, "A human?"
