"If we eat everything, we wouldn't have a body to bury."

Muzan chuckled, his eyes carefully calculating [Y/n]'s features that were coated in red, "Do you even want to bury him?" The [h/c] haired male shrugged as he bit off another piece of meat to swallow.

Nobutsura's corpse was strangely delicious to [Y/n], the metallic tang of blood was mouth-watering, and the slight headache that constantly buzzed on his head before had finally calmed down to a gentle hum. The man in front of him, Kibutsuji Muzan, seemed much stronger after having his fill. His pale features brightened to a much healthier hue, and just the way he carried himself felt much different than the other night.

Licking his lips and fingers of the excess blood, [Y/n] stood up and gazed at his cousin's corpse.

His face was set on an emotion of pain and fear, the blood loss and devastating blow to his upper body—courtesy of Muzan—from two hours ago had finally stiffened the muscles of his body. Interestingly enough, [Y/n] felt no guilt from eating such a horrible man.

Perhaps it was due to his distaste and loathsomeness of Nobutsura and men such as him, but [Y/n] could see himself devouring those he thinks deserved to die. Those who would hinder the world around them for their self-regarding means, [Y/n] despised those kinds of people beyond belief.

Taking a deep breath to clear his thoughts, [Y/n] turned to Muzan for answers, "What do we do with the rest of the body? I'm already full."

"We can just leave it, or put it in the middle of a forest." [Y/n]'s eyes shined at the latter idea. "How smart of you. Parts of his corpse would be eaten by the animals in the forest, and those who found him would think it was an attack from a wild beast instead."

Muzan seemed reluctant to help [Y/n] get rid of the corpse, but he finally relented and assisted [Y/n] move it to a near forest. Deciding they should clean themselves up before leaving, they walk towards a riverbank in the vicinity.

The moon above cast a beautiful white hue across the tranquil river. The water seemed to whisper softly as it gently flowed to offer troubled souls a sense of solace. [Y/n] cupped the cold water in his hands and splashed it onto his stained face. Crimson tinge diluted and mingled with the gentle rippers of the river's current.

Each droplet of water that dripped from his face carried a myriad of emotions—worry and anger overwhelming him as he sees his reflection below.

Ah, I wanted to kill him myself.

His own reflection, a distorted image of a person he thought he knew. He questioned the depths of his own capacity for violence, for the darkness that lurked beneath his facade. The river bore witness to the choice he had made and carried them downstream.

He was never that good at hiding it, especially on the battlefield his parents threw him in. While he had stayed there to protect his general, his brother from harm, he had also stayed to release the anger that kept brewing inside him. Accompanied by his sword on the battlefield, [Y/n] had cut through the enemy lines with ease.

Anger guided his inner self, steadied his state of mind, and pushed him through the obstacles in his life. It made his presence blinding to his enemies, the sheer strength of his strikes, accompanied with his maniacal grin brought for his renowned position as a samurai.

"Tch, are you done yet? Let's go already." [Y/n] could feel Muzan scowling behind them, his patience thinned as he waited for [Y/n] to clean himself.

With a final glance at his reflection, the [h/c] haired male took a deep breath and turned away from the river, determined to confront the darkness that had consumed him from within, to find a way he could use it as best as he could for what he believed in.
