Kuki POV:

I sigh, wiping my forehead as I place the last box down. I finally got a place of my own. After many months of part-time jobs in between my intense school schedule, I saved enough money to rent an apartment. I smile proudly, standing up straight and stretching my back.

I've been so busy that I've hardly been able to help Itto and the Arataki gang out at all. Luckily, there is no need for me to bail them out of jail, which is a rather common occurrence, unfortunately. And through the stream of idle conversation I've overheard from people at school, the Arataki gang hasn't gotten into too much trouble, thank the archons.

I plop down on my bed, staring at the low ceiling, letting my mind wander for a bit. I breathe in the musty scent of my small, two-room apartment before getting up and making myself some hasty dinner and then flicking the lights off and heading to sleep.

I wake up early that morning, before the sun has even risen, looking out my window as fog drifts about the streets of Inazuma city, I breathe in the fresh, damp air as I pull on my hoodie and slide my mask on, pulling my hair into a ponytail so that its out of my way.

Quietly, I make my way down the several flights of stairs, heading into the market to get some errands done with before deciding I should probably check in with the Arataki gang after this.

A collection of beautiful and wonderful-smelling flowers catches my attention as I walk by. My apartment could use something to help it smell a bit nicer.

Right as I'm reaching into my mora pouch to make my purchase, a voice says from a centimeter away from my ear: "Who're you buying flowers for?"

I nearly drop my money, recognizing that voice immediately and going rather warm in the cheeks. I turn, finding myself face to face with Shikinoin Heizou, his green eyes sparkling only a few inches away from my own. I'm suddenly quite grateful for my dark mask hiding the lower half of my face from view.

"Apologies miss Shinobu, I didn't mean to startle you," he says softly, his gaze locked on mine. I straighten myself out.

"It's alright mister Shikinoin," I mutter, barely audibly. He smirks.

"Well, who are the flowers for?" he presses, getting closer to me, his arm brushing up against mine. The physical contact makes my skin burn and I try to scooch away from him without him noticing what I'm doing, messing with my hair and averting my eyes.

"They're for me of course," I snap, passing the vendor some mora before snatching the flowers and marching off, my face hotter than ever. Just the sound of his voice makes my stomach dance with butterflies. I shake my head vigorously, I can't be feeling these things...

I reach my apartment in record time, filling a vase with water. I place the flowers in it, and it already smells a lot better. I smile before heading back outside and nearly crashing into Heizou.

"Shit sorry!" he yelps, catching my hands in his own as I nearly fall over backwards. My face burns as he lets go quickly, shoving his hands in his pockets, looking to the side. He pulls something out of his pocket and hands it to me. "Y-you dropped this..." he mumbles. It is a family portrait of me, my sister and my parents, it must've fallen out of my wallet when I rushed off. I clutch it close to my chest, mumbling a quiet 'thank you'.

We stand there, an awkward silence hanging over us.

"Soooo," Heizou starts, his piercing green eyes meeting mine as he glances at me, a small smile on his lips. "Do you wanna go out to dinner some time? I know this really nice place~"
