Autumn

As the green leaves start turning into the beautiful colours of autumn, the slowly fading warm breeze of summer turns into a cold, moist wind blowing through the streets, shaking the branches of the trees in the parks. The people in the streets changed their bright t-shirts and light blue jeans for dark coats, wool hats and warm scarfs. The only thing that hasn't changed are the crowds in front of the coffee shops not anymore craving for iced coffee but pumpkin spiced latte instead. The dark cloudy sky promises an upcoming time of windy and rainy weather. From this far away everything in this big city seems so small and unimportant but when you focus on one single individual you can see all those fascinating details about them. The emotions, values and dreams this person shared on their way through the streets and further away on their journey through life. The rain slowly starts dripping onto the cobblestone and against the windows of the coffee shop, the bakery on the corner and all the other shops stretching along the road. Unirritated by that, the individuals continue following their ways. A man in a suit rushing through the crowd on his way heading to the office. The old lady sitting on a bench watching the children jumping from one muddy puddle to the next laughing loudly as the water splashes under their rubber boots. The young woman opening her umbrella to cover herself and her girlfriend from the rain. So many beautiful moments, unrecognised by anyone. A wonderful imperfect perfection that gets noticed by no one, not even by themselves. The grey and gloomy atmosphere is filled with so much light and life. Whilst I am here, sitting in my room, looking outside my window, thinking about why you had to lose your battle against the cruelty of life so early.
