Hope couldn't stand it anymore; she clenched her fists so she didn't lash out. Biting her tongue to stop the spells from spilling from her lips. She couldn't stop the tsunami of anger The Hollow wanted to release.
All because of stupid Pansy Parkinson.
It was like first year all over again and Pansy had come back with a vengeance. She wanted to humiliate and hurt Hope.
Turn Hope's hair bright yellow? She would change it back with natural magic. Start a duel in the middle of the common room and it would backfire when Hope beat Pansy with a simple Protego.
But The Hollow saw and felt all. And it was angry. It wanted to unleash far worse than what Hope did. The magic was itching to escape and Hope felt on the brink of losing far more than she liked.
People were starting to notice. Malfoy noticed when she destroyed the vase right next to Pansy. Her magic had been aiming for Pansy. He was always watching. Why was he always watching?
Hope needed to get rid of the magic. And there was only one place safe enough to expel this type of magic.
It was late when she made her way up the seventh floor. Late enough that if she got caught, Filch would give her the worst possible detention he could get away with.
Hope didn't notice the body she crashed into as she turned the corner. She rebounded and her arm was caught before she could fall to the ground. And of course, it just had to be Malfoy gripping her tightly.
Hope pulled herself together and took a step away from him. "What are you doing here?" She asked, so close to the tapestry of Barnabas attempting to teach the trolls ballet.
His eyebrows rose in amusement. "Me? I think I should be asking you that question, considering I'm the prefect, Marshall."
"Don't you mean ex-prefect? I seem to recall you quitting. Couldn't handle it?" A smirk appeared on Hope's face.
Malfoy's features contorted until his eyebrows were furrowed and his lip was curling. "It is none of your business." He snarled.
"Then fuck off, will you? I have places to be."
"Why you little—"
"Say it." Hope stepped forward into his space until she could feel his breath on her skin. "Say it, I dare you."
"Mudblood."
Hope's eyes flashed blue as the black veins appeared on her arms. She had worn a short sleeve top thinking that this wouldn't have been an issue. Her fingers flexed itching to release the curse.
Malfoy stepped back in shock. "What are—"
Her head snapped to the left, sensing the footsteps before she heard them. Whatever curse The Hollow was about to say was cut off. Hope yanked on Malfoy and pushed him against the wall. With her hand covering his mouth, she muttered "Invisique.". She leaned against him slightly watching as Filch emerged around the corner, Mrs Norris hot on his heels.
His lantern swung in front of him as he walked down the corridor and coming to a stop next to the pair.
Malfoy froze underneath her.
"I know your down here. I could hear you." Filch taunted, his beady eyes searching the corridor.
Hope watched him over her shoulder now that Malfoy had finally stopped resisting.
Filch's eyes brushed over them as he looked down at Mrs Norris. "We'll find them, we always do my sweet." He told his cat and they continued the march down the corridor, heading in the complete wrong direction.
As soon as they were out of sight, Hope let go of Malfoy and mumbled the counter spell, "phasmatos oculacs."
"How did you do that? That's not a normal disillusionment spell."
"I know, mines better."
"But now?"
"Magic." Hope snorted at his annoyed face. "Goodbye, Malfoy." She winked over her shoulder as she followed in the direction Filch had gone. She couldn't go into the room now. Not with Malfoy snooping and stomping about.
"10 points from Slytherin." He called out.
"And you're still not a prefect!" She wiggled her fingers in goodbye.
Pissing Draco Malfoy off was going to be her new favourite hobby.

Hope piled her plate up with everything within distance; sausages, bacon, toast, muffins, tomatoes. She was starving. Maybe it was the late night adventure that had affected her hunger so much.
"Where'd you go last night?" Magnolia questioned as she took her seat beside Hope. She was taking far too long to get ready so Hope had gone up ahead.
"What do you mean?"
"You came back to the dorm around 3am. So where were you?" Magnolia's eyes widened. "Do you have a secret boyfriend you haven't told me about?"
Hope's head twisted to hers instantly. "What? NO! Of course not. You would know if there was."
"I better as your best friend."
Hope smiled. "Trust me, if there was someone, I wouldn't be able to keep it from you. I couldn't sleep so I went for a walk." She lied. It was better this way. Magnolia did not need to know what uncontrollable magic is running through her veins.
She bunched the ends of her cardigan sleeves until her hands were hidden inside them.
"You didn't get caught? Lucky." Magnolia bit into her slice of toast.
