It had been a while since the last time Lisa attended a brotherhood night. As the night continued, he was able to catch up with what he'd missed over the past weeks.
"Are you and Jennie staying in Shenjing for good?" Song Yiran asked. Ever since he ventured out on his own, without relying on his brothers' help anymore, he was spending more time in Shenjing and only would only go to Qiying City for short visits.
"Not really." Lisa replied. "Just until we're able to settle the business here. I'm sure she prefers staying in Qiying City rather than here."
"So you're still allowing her to work despite her condition?" Jisoo asked.
Lisa eyed the older man and he didn't need to ask how Jisoo knew about his wife's delicate condition. How could he forget that Jisoo was now dating Rosé? He wasn't sure though if Jisoo was also aware that Jennie was poisoned.
"I wanted her to stop, but she insisted that she's still capable of running Bluemedia." He replied with a tone that let his brothers know that he wasn't pleased with Jennie's decision.
"Huh? Is she sick or something?" Song Yiran cocked his head to look at the youngest member of their group. "Is this why you couldn't leave Qiying City before?"
Lisa's jaws hardened before drinking his whiskey in one go. He didn't want to drag his brothers into his problem, as he was so used to dealing with everything on his own. However, the more time he spent with them, the more he felt that he could rely on them.
"She's pregnant." He admitted, which was followed by a whistle from Song Yiran.
Jin Young laughed and patted Lisa's back.
"You sure don't waste any time when it comes to her, huh? Marrying her at the first chance you got and now knocking her up? Lisa, you are several steps ahead of us already."
"Congratulations!" Ming Yu said while Jackson gave Lisa a concerned look.
"But you don't look happy." The scarred man commented. "What's going on?"
Lisa's hold on his glass tightened. He should be over the moon right now if not for the fact that his wife was poisoned.
"Jennie was poisoned by someone. Han Zijun would have treated her by now and stopped it from spreading, but she refused to terminate her pregnancy."
Jin Young frowned. "Who would dare to poison her under your watch? They must be tired of living."
Ming Yu scoffed at that and shook his head.
"She's Lisa's wife. That alone is enough for her to be targeted by those who opposed him." He pointed out. "I'm pretty sure Big Sis has made enemies herself, considering her line of work."
"Do you know what kind of poison it is? Is there something we could do to help?" Jackson asked Lisa. Amongst his brothers, he was the closest to Lisa because he had never shown disgust or treated him unjustly when they first met.
Initially, Jackson was suspicious of this young man who kept seeking him for advice although he had long graduated from the same university Lisa attended. They had met several times at various social events and Lisa had made it bearable for Jackson to stay as he kept him occupied.
Add to the fact that Suzy was close to Jennie, it seemed to him that his girlfriend was still oblivious of her manager's health condition. Jackson didn't want her to worry to death. He was also willing to help Lisa to the best of his ability.
Lisa hesitated, but the faster they could find an antidote for his wife, the better. The Wang family had better network than his Manoban family and he wasn't able to utilize his family's resources in fear that his relatives would use the chance to strike him and harm Jennie further.
