The band spent five nights in New York and Martin spent every night with Sophie. He then stayed an extra night. On a couple of nights, they had sex. They also went on lunch dates and shopping.
On the third night, they did nothing. Martin finally told Sophie about Anne, his ex-girlfriend, and the reason he'd gone to The Vault on the day they met. Sophie was speechless and when he was done talking, she promised that she would never judge him or his desires.
On his last night in New York, they decided to have a switch session. Martin was nervous because he didn't want to hurt Sophie, so she guided him through it. The rush he got from seeing her tied up and flushed was amazing. He hated seeing her bleed from when he hit her with the riding crop, but she assured him that she was enjoying it.
He then poured candle wax on her breasts and stomach and touched her with ice on his hands. She remained obedient the whole time, even as he denied her the orgasm she needed. She didn't say the safe word until her face was tear-streaked and she could barely stand. Only then did Martin untie her and bring her to the bed so he could make her come over and over with his fingers, mouth and cock. Martin himself came inside of her twice and once in her mouth while Sophie's orgasms were so intense, she burst into tears. When it was over, he cleaned up the blood and bathed with her. Then, he tended to her wounds and they fell asleep with her wrapped in his arms.
Sophie gave him her phone number, just in case he ever returned to New York and craved something. Martin wrote her another check and made her promise to cash it, because he couldn't think of another way to thank her for making him feel normal. With tears in her eyes, she kissed him on the cheek and called him her Beautiful Martin.
Months later, he was finally home and the first leg of the tour had ended. He hadn't seen Sophie since September. He wanted to know how she was and when he called, she picked up. Hearing her voice made him smile.
They talked for hours and he explained how he stopped seeing Kitty. She told him how she'd quit The Vault and was thinking about working for herself. He reverted to being submissive and asked to be one of her clients if she did work for herself. She laughed and told him that he would be her only client.
The next time he visited New York, it was 2009 and he'd fallen out of touch with Sophie. He didn't know if she'd gone freelance or if she'd moved on, but they both had lives. It saddened him, though, that their lives were separate.
During a show, he looked out at the audience and just happened to see Sophie. Her face was a little thinner and her hair was red. She was also standing with a little girl, who couldn't have been much older than 12, but Martin would have recognized her from anywhere.
They stared at each other for a few seconds and she smiled at him. Martin then went to Dave and after a moment, Dave went to the microphone and said, "I think that Snow's in the forecast tonight."
After the dedication, they started their performance of "Halo."
She watched the band perform and continued to smile as Martin remained at his synthesizer, thinking about how happy he was because of her. He also came to terms with the fact that he was, indeed, a bad submissive.
Just a little before the song was over, Sophie turned around and headed out of the venue with the little girl. Martin remained on stage and smiled, now that they had officially said goodbye.
