Chapter 14: Moony

Chapter 14

Marlene's POV

My heart beats rapidly as I sneak around the corridors, hoping I won't be caught by any authority figures. Every once in a while, I would stop and cast a disillusionment charm as I scout the next room/hall for any movement. I'm one corridor away from the castle's back doors. Please let me not be too late, I plead to myself.

As soon as I figured out what Sirius had invited Severus out to the forbidden forest for, I told myself that I must do whatever it takes to stop Severus from going. I couldn't stop him and Lily from that fight, but maybe I can stop this from happening. How? I have no freaking idea. I'm just going on instinct at this point. Is this the Gyffindor in Marlene coming out? If it is, please come out some more, I'm going to need it.

As I decided that the coast was clear enough, I walked forward and opened the door, only to be grabbed by the arm and pulled back. I almost screamed when I smelled a familiar scent. "Reg? What are you doing here?" I whispered.

"I can ask you the same question."

"I-" I don't have any words to say.

"I saw Snape sneak out about 10 minutes ago and I was following him when I lost him and found you." I looked at him in surprise.

"I'm trying to find Severus. He's about to do something stupid and- we need to stop him. Please." I begged Reggie with my eyes.

He sighed. "Let's go."

"And where are we going?" A voice behind us spoke, making the both of us jump in surprise.

"Barty. Dora." Reggie reprimanded.

"What?! You're doing something without us!" Barty exclaimed.

"Why are you two here too?" Not the whole gang.. This is one of the only times where the less people, the better the situation.

"Well, we're in this together, are we not?" Dora innocently inquired as Barty nodded.

"Exactly, so where you two go, we go!"

I shake my head quickly, "No, not this time! It's dangerous!"

"Oh, and finding horcruxes from You Know Who isn't?" Barty scoffs.

"No, you don't understand, this-" As I tried to explain, we all heard a scream from outside the doors. Without looking back, I ran towards the scream whilst continuously thinking "no" over and over again in my head. My friends, of course, run after me.

We get to the edge of the forbidden forest when I see a figure run towards the whomping willows in the corner of my eyes. Severus!

"Severus! Come back!" I pleaded as I ran towards him. He looks back at me in horror.

"McKinnon? Run! There's a-" A howl is heard as I shivered in fear.

"We have to go back now!" I yelled at our group of friends along with Severus. I see him dash towards us as I rush the rest of the group back towards the castle when we are stopped by a big looming figure – Moony, the one figure I was hoping to avoid.

"Blimey! Is- is that.. A werewolf?!" Barty exclaimed in shock.

Thinking quickly, I rushed everyone back, "To the whomping willow. There's a passageway there. Go, now, go!" We turned and headed back to the tree, being chased at full speed by Moony. Dora yelps as she trips and falls down onto the ground. I look back and head towards my childhood friend in pure terror. Moony gangs up on us and just as he is about to lunge, a big black dog and a stag interjects between us. Padfoot! Prongs! The dog barks and the stag pushes Moony using his horns and head.
