Games are supposed to be fun, or at least that's what eight year old Yeonjun thinks as he falls to the ground with a huff, crossing his arms over his chest to proclaim his annoyance to everyone around him. The melodious tune begins to play again and the other kids scurry around the rows of chairs, all hoping for the same things – to find a seat when the music stops. Yeonjun usually loves playing games, but that's because he usually wins at them. He especially likes playing games with his mom, he always beats her.

His face forms a little pout as he lets out a disappointed huff, watching his cousin play doing nothing but amplifying the sour feeling of losing. He remains seated on the floor with his arms crossed for a few more rounds, making sure to give Taehyun a glimpse of his pout with each round that passes. But Yeonjun is resilient and knows he can't stay in his unhappy bubble forever. With a glimmer of hope in his eyes, he swivels his gaze from the circle of chairs and casually glances around the classroom.

That's when he spots a small figure sitting quietly in the corner. The boy stares down at his shoes, avoiding eye contact with the other students. With excitement gripping Yeonjun's heart, his frown transforms into a wide grin. He quickly forgets about his own disappointment and springs up from the ground, skipping over to the boy in the corner.

"Hi! I'm Yeonjun," he exclaims with enthusiasm, his eyes sparkling once again. "But my friends call me Jun!"

The boy looks up with eyes bright, a warm smile tugging at his lips, showcasing his prominent dimples. "Soobin."

Yeonjun's eyes widen with excitement. "You have the cutest dimples ever," he exclaims, unable to contain his delight. Soobin blushes and Yeonjun is quick to poke both of them. "I'm gonna call you... Dimples!"

And from that moment on, Yeonjun and Soobin became inseparable.

Each morning, Yeonjun would eagerly wait at the bus stop for Soobin just to see Soobin's warm smile and talk about their nights. During recess, the two would swing together, run through the obstacle courses, and giggle their way down the playground slide. They were the best of friends, and nothing could tear them apart.

One day after school, Soobin gets off the bus and takes Yeonjun's hand in his own, running as fast as he can in the direction of his home. Yeonjun giggles and quickly follows the other. Soobin opens the gate to his backyard and quickly pulls Yeonjun inside, locking it behind him before running underneath a giant oak tree. The golden leaves dance in the gentle breeze while Soobin pulls his backpack into his lap, motioning for Yeonjun to sit beside him.

The leaves crunch beneath him as he sits down, watching as Soobin hands him a folded up piece of paper, his eyes gleaming with anticipation. "What is this?" Yeonjun asks with curiosity, unfolding the paper.

"It's a friendship contract," Soobin beams. "You, Choi Yeonjun, have to be my best friend from now until eternity. You must promise to be the bestest best friend in the whole wide world!"

Yeonjun hugs his best friend tightly before getting a crayon out of his bag and messily signing the page, making sure to draw a small heart behind his name.

Best friends from now until eternity.

And when the first day of fourth grade comes around, Yeonjun is up bright and early, knocking on Soobin's front door with a smile on his face. Soobin's mother lets him in and he immediately runs to the younger's room, stopping when he sees Soobin standing in the middle of the room, holding his stuffed bunny tightly as he paces back and forth.

"Dimples! Good morning!" Yeonjun beams, taking off his shoes and sitting down on Soobin's bed with his legs crossed.

"Morning, Jun."
