I let myself slip on Garnet’s side but i clumsily join the ground by falling suddenly on the grass. A growl escapes from my throat to betray me as to the pain that repeats in my back. But I didn’t hurt my head, and that’s good.
"We’re going to have to work on your delicacy" I grumbled and turned on my stomach.
Garnet stretches like a cat, before trotting to a tree. He pushes his mouth into a hollow, and pulls out a small package of clothing locked in plastic. Following this, I hear repulsive rustling coming from him, like bones breaking and coming out in an aqueous resonance. Its coat falls in gusts and disappears even before reaching the ground.
He becomes human again before my eyes, something I have only seen once, and which can only fascinate me beyond the imaginable. When Garnet finds himself naked, and breathing a little chaotic, I turn around to look at the magical barrier we just borrowed.
"It’s a barrier created by our goddess to protect us," says Garnet.
A barrier... yes, I see it clearly now that I’m on the other side. Being on the previous cliff, we can see face to either a worrisome void, see dangerous, without any other piece of land in front. Just the raging sea below. But by taking the risk of jumping, we reach a wonderful land.
Garnet jumped into this void with me, and now I do find myself on a floor that is not supposed to exist. Speaking of him, he has finished getting dressed but he gives me some time to contemplate what I have in front of me.
The moon shines more intensely here, and I think I’ve never seen it this big in my life. I turn to look at this half-real, half-artificial forest, in which I see a net of smoke rising in the distance.
"The most important packs are already there" announces the Lycan, taking the lead.
"Are you sure I’m okay with the event?" I asked looking at my torn jeans, white sneakers and two hoodies.
I am very sensitive to cold. I do not accept any comments on this subject. It is a tricky issue.
"It doesn’t matter what you’re wearing. Nobody’s going to be all dressed up tonight... except maybe the Royal pack."
"Royal?" I repeat, raising an eyebrow.
"We call them that because they think they are kings, that they are all of pure blood and finally because the majority of the supremes come from their pack."
- They must have big heads.
He confirms by nodding without stopping his walk on the path with flowery edges. And I am looking around like an enthusiastic kid in a toy store.
"But are you really sure that my presence will not be a problem? Won’t your people be offended that a human is on their territory?"
"Another problem. If you were not worthy of being there, you would never have been able to cross the barrier." Otherwise, you would have woken up in the forest with no memory of mine. Even I would be completely out of your memory.
Ah, good thing I have a marshmallow heart.
- In addition, each of us has the right to share the secret of our existence with only two humans who are given extreme confidence.
My marshmallow heart had not prepared for such a revelation. I too would entrust my own life to him if necessary, the proof, I agreed to jump from a mortal precipice with him without complaining.
We walk in an almost spiritual silence, tranquility offered by the atmosphere of this mirage forest that surrounds us. I have the impression that every tree, every flower and every animal present has a lot to tell me, but that I do not have what it takes to hear them. And this fact frustrates me a bit.
