I let out a sigh and dump the last cardboard box on the floor beside the 3 others. My bags had all been unable to carry my things, so I had settled for cardboard boxes. My arms hurt after carrying them from the taxa and into the little hut. Or rather, my house for the next month. I look around and am surprised at how nice it actually is, compared to what I thought it would be like.
I had not chosen this place after how luxurious or fancy it was. I just wanted peace and quiet after all the things I had went through. Therefore I had decided with myself not to bring my laptop and only to use my phone in an emergency situation or when listening to music. As a girl who constantly used her phone to keep in touch with the rest of the world and to guide her through the day as her personal schedule, I already knew that I would have difficulties trying to adjust to my temporary life here without reaching for my beloved phone.
But I had brought a few books with me. I opened the lid of one of the boxes. Ok, maybe a bit more than a few. Ok, what the hell, I had brought a lot of books. After all I was going to stay here for bit of time, and my intention was to cross a lot my books off my "to-read" list. Seriously, when I checked my list I had had a big surprise – had I really added so many books to my list?
I chose a song from my playlist and sat my phone on the wooden table. One of my favourite bands, All Time Low, began to play.
While the music played it in the background, I began exploring the little hut. There was the living room, in which I were standing. A couch, a table with chairs and a few other small things occupied the room. From the window I could see the green forest and the sun making the leaves shine and making the forest look like something out of a fairy tale. I smiled and opened the big window to let fresh air in – it was pretty warm.
Then there was a bedroom with a bunk bed, night table, another table and a few comfy looking bean bags. A closet revealed extra mattresses, covers, pillows and all the things you would need for your bedroom. There also were 2 shelves where I could put things to make the room more personal.
I slid my hand into my pocket and found the picture. I couldn't help but smile, whenever I looked at it. It was a picture of my best friend and I in an amusement park with our arms draped around each other's shoulders. Even though we didn't look our best, I loved this picture to bits and always carried it around me, even though it hurt to think about that uncomplicated time. It had been the best day of our lives, the day the picture was taken. When my parents were still alive and my best friend still healthy and un-injured.
When we first had become best friends, we had thought a lot about all the things we would do in the future. We had had a plan about coming here in our vacation to take a break from school and studying. We were both the best in our school and always worked very hard. But then one day something happened to her, and she was never the same.
But she had me promise to her, that I would still go on vacation without her, as much as I didn't want to leave her side.
I bit my lip and decided not to think about those things, and went back to the living room.
*** SHIFT IN POV***
They all went out of the car and said thanks and goodbye to the driver, after they had got all of their luggage out.
Baekhyun and Chanyeol both quickly ran a bit forward to look at the setting. The rest, Kai, D.O and Sehun followed them after a few moments. They had all looked forward to this the last month, where they had had almost no personal time because of their tour. Now they had more than a whole month to relax, disappear, and get away from the constant spotlight. Here they could be normal and that's why they had said no to the expensive places their managers had suggested for them.
They all felt relieved when realization hit them. They could be free here and do whatever they wanted.
D.O. couldn't let go of his urge to be organized, so he took his list up from his pocket and crossed a few things over, while adding some other things.
Kai breathed the fresh air and admired the view like the other members of EXO-K. "Wow, the forest looks really pretty" Baekhyun commented and Sehun nodded, lifting his hand up in the air "Yehet!"
"It's really weird how there is a forest so close to the beach", D.O. said and pointed at the beach, which looked like it was about 10 minutes away from the forest. "It shouldn't be possible" he said with brows furrowed.
Kai laughed and punched him lightly on the shoulder. "Hey, just enjoy it, Hyung, you nerd. Lets all go over to our hut".
They all took their bags with them and walked towards the big hut . There were two huts, but they had decided just to live in the biggest instead of splitting up and live in two. The hut was placed on the outskirt of the beach and Kai decided to take of his shoes to enjoy the sand tickling his feet. They all laughed at his eagerness, and when they were about open the door of their hut, someone spoke up.
"Hey, what are you doing here?"
They all turned around, surprise written all over their faces.
"Ehm, who are you and what are you doing here" She said, a bit softer because the first time the words had come out a bit harsher than she intended them to.
The guys were even more surprised, when they realized the girl standing in front of them hadn't recognised them as universal stars. They looked at each other and decided, non-verbally, to keep their fame a secret. They wanted to be normal here.
"We are all friends, and we are supposed to be on vacation here and live in that hut over there" Chanyeol said. "We were told, that we would have the place for ourselves".
"Who are you, and what are you doing here?" Kai asked curiously.
The girl looked at them, still not recognizing them, and after a moment where she was a total loss of words, she answered:
"I am also on vacation here. I was told that I would be alone here, and I was going to live in that hut" she said pointing at the small one, not so far away from the other one.
***SHIFT IN POV***
What.
Who were these guys? They seemed... different in a way. The aura surrounding them... She couldn't quite put her finger on it.
Whatever. One of them were off to talk to someone on the phone because of the misunderstanding, while the others clearly were discussing what to do. We had both clearly been told that we would have the place for ourselves.
I sat in the sand and waited for them to finish their call and tell me, that they would be leaving and say sorry for the inconvenience.
But when they came back, with weird looks on their faces, my imaginations shattered.
"Sorry, but it looks like we are both going to be here, unless you want to leave. We are terribly sorry, but we have had this arranged for so long, so we are going to stay here too."
I closed my eyes. Little did I know what the next month would bring.
