Never trust anybody.

I trusted my instincts, and they led me down the road of insanity.

The fresh blood dripping from almost every inch of my body, made it hard to dispose of the now rotting corpse. My arms becoming numb as our bloods mixed. I may have sliced myself once or twice in the process of homicide.  Dragging a cold, lifeless body would normally draw a lot of attention, but no one was around to know. No one could hear his piercing screams as the knife hit his flesh and bone, digging deeper and deeper with each blow. No one at all. No one but… her…

She was a young girl, about fifteen. Tall, blonde, and skinny, your basic Hollywood trendsetter. But she saw me. She saw me as I took the life of this man. I didn’t regret it one bit, but I knew I would have to kill again. That, I might regret.

I looked over at her through remaining shards of glass through the broken window. She saw me murder him… she’s going to tell…  Was all I could think. I looked back down at my blood covered self, and looked back at the girl, she was running away, towards town.  She had a good mile and a half run, so she couldn’t get far before I took her life as well. I continued watching her run, but she stopped and turned into the woods. I followed sneakily behind after seeing her turn.

I could feel my heart racing as I dragged myself through the thorns and trees that filled the dark eerie woods.  Sounds from all different directions filled my head. I stopped for a minute to catch my breath and determine which direction she had gone. Before I started chasing the girl again, something brushed pass my leg. Something big, almost the size of a small bear cub. There were bears in these woods, but I pushed my head into believing that it was just the little cat that always crawled up to my porch.

I continued through the dark musty trees and in about five minutes, I came across a small log cabin. It was the size of a refrigerator, and it had a lantern hanging on a pole next to the door. I walked up to it and discovered that it had a sign on the door. It read ‘ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK.” It spooked me at first, but I had absolutely nothing to lose. I opened the door expecting it the small building to be an outhouse, but to my surprise, the size of the cabin was just an illusion. It was a long hallway. The door opened to reveal a staircase leading to the catacombs. There were broken skeletons and skulls covering sections of the floor, and most of the walls. I continued down the lantern path and stopped at a startling sight. One of the tombs was made out to Jonas Szcaszawicz. He was my boyfriend, the one I just murdered.

I left the place I had mistaken for a small tool shed and began running home. Still no trace of the girl.

I stopped running when I saw a police man slowing down next to me. He came to a complete stop, and jumped out of his car, lights still flashing. “Excuse me ma’am,” he said. I wanted to ignore him, but I knew I couldn’t. “Yes?” My fear had almost gotten the best of me, but I gathered all of my strength and finished, “can I help you?” He began shining his flash light at my arms, and got closer to me. “Can I ask why you have blood all over your miss?”

“Oh, you see, I was attacked by a bear, and it clawed at me, I had to defend myself somehow, so I grabbed a stick and sort of killed it.”

“Why were you out her at this hour? And did you know that it’s a federal offence to kill the wildlife out here?” I thought of a good lie to tell. “My cat had run out of my door when I came inside from a long days work, you see, and I didn’t want to lose her, so I ran after her. And no sir, I didn’t but are you going to arrest me for protecting myself from a bear attack?” I asked with a smart look? “No I suppose not,” He answered, “do you want a ride to the hospital? You never know what kind of diseases the bears out here carry.”
