Erin's hard gaze rested on Caitlin, who was sitting across from her older sister, awkwardly clutching her cup of tea, which she brought to her lips and took a sip to do something during the awkward silence that currently reigned between the sisters.

Her gaze wandered over the railing of the small balcony of her sisters apartment to check on Jax and Abel, who were spending time together on the small playground between the houses. Caitlin trusted Jax enough by now to give him a few minutes alone with Abel, still within reach.

After the mysterious conversation Jax had had on the phone on her balcony earlier, he had told her about it afterwards. At least now she knew that his mother was apparently pretty strong-willed and stubborn and didn't give up easily when it came to the people she loved.

Nevertheless, the fact that someone now knew where she lived with Abel made her nervous. If she didn't accommodate Jax and his family, what would happen? Was it better to give Abel the chance to get to know his whole family? Probably yes. At some point he would ask questions. Maybe not now or in five years. But maybe in ten years.

And then what? Did she want to be the one who denied him the chance to be with his family? No.

After Jax also told her that there seemed to be some problems in his club and that he had to go back to Cali in the next few days, she decided to take his offer and go with him. For Abel's sake.

Erin, however, wasn't keen on the idea and had spent the last twenty minutes trying to talk her sister out of going with Jax.

"Erin, can you please stop looking at me like that?" Sighing, the redhead put her cup down and rested her forearms on the table. "Why don't you come with me if you're so worried?"

The brunette raised an eyebrow. "And how is that supposed to work, Caitlin? We both have jobs."

"I know that", Caitlin replied carefully. Of course she hadn't forgotten that. "Jax doesn't know about my decision yet, so he can't get his hopes up if I don't get time off. But we could try, right?"

"Why do you want this so badly? Don't you have any concerns anymore? You've known him for only what? A week. And even if you slept with him, which I'm still a bit shocked about', she emphasized with a slight grin before her facial features hardened again. "ᅳ you don't know anything about each other, do you? You have no idea how many people are waiting for Abel there and will try to convince you to stay there or give them Abel back."

"Of course I still have concerns. But I just have a good feeling about Jax. I believe him that he doesn't want to take Abel away from me", she reasoned gently and leaned forward to grab Erin's hand. "Didn't you always tell me to trust my gut? Besides, a hundred people can try to convince me that Abel is better off with them, I won't give my child away."

Erin was silent for a moment, a smile crossing her lips. This was just one of those proud big sister moments. Caitlin had really grown up and turned into a beautiful, strong woman and sometimes Erin simply forgot that. Caitlin knew exactly what was best for her and Abel.
