Remnant

On the porch of a small home in the woods, two sisters are seen talking to one another.

???: Hey yang, do you think that something exists outside of Remnant?

Yang: This again ruby? I.... don't have an answer for that. I want to hope that something does, but it's just so unlikely.

Ruby: Something does exist out there. I'm sure of it.

Yang: I'm sure something does Ruby.

The two girls continued to talk for some time, before being called inside for dinner. Before she went inside however, Ruby looked up at the shattered moon one more time. She once again wondered if life did exist out in space. But she didn't think she'd ever get to see it.

Somewhere in the unknown of space

In the deep void of space, far away from Remnant, two forces clashed.

In the void of space, two fleets of warships were locked in combat with one another. Both sides not giving up or letting off the attack. For if they do, that side will fall.

Crewman: SIR! Enemy frigate has taken critical damage! Reactor and shields are down!

Captain: Good, fire missile bays 20-30 at the frigate. Destroy it. Helm bring us around to face those destroyers. We can't let them reach the cruisers, weapons free all missile bays authorized.

WSO: Roger, all missile bays fired, reloading now. Almost within main gun range sir, AP loaded and targets locked.

Captain: Fire all guns, target the DDKs first then get the DDEs. Don't let those pirate bastards live to see the end of this day!

RSO: SIR! ENEMY CRUISER PORT SIDE. Shit, rounds inbound! BRACE!

The rounds impact the ship as the lights flicker and groans are heard throughout the vessel.

Captain: Damage report. Now!

Officer: Shields damaged, 30% left, 120s 3-7 are down, 50% PDC coverage left. Hull breaches on decks 3,6, and 10. Reactor damaged, so is FTL and rift drive.

Captain: Copy that. Helm bring us around to face that cruiser. Weapons ready the Accelerators.

WSO: Main guns armed sir! Missile bays 0-20 are reloaded!

Captain: When we turn around, hit that cruiser with everything we have.

The warship had just completed its turn to face the enemy cruiser. For a few moments in time, the world slowed down for the crew of these two ships. Then, they fired.

Captain: FIRE AT WILL!

The void of space then ignited with the fury of hundreds of missiles and cannon rounds. Missiles flew towards the opposing ship and speeds nearing Mach 100, cannon shells going at fractions of the speed of light, and the Accelerator shells, reaching nearly 80% the speed of light flying towards the enemy. It was a dazzling display, one that if not for the current circumstances, would have been beautiful.

It took only seconds for the rounds to impact. The cruiser was ripped in half stem to stern, the missiles vaporizing its hull, the cannon shells ripping the armor apart, and the Accelerator rounds destroying the core of the vessel. But the cruisers rounds also hit.
