《LEVI'S POV》

When Levi got home that day, he decided it would be best to tell his mom about the assignment first. He walked into the kitchen, where she was cooking dinner. "Hey, mom." He started.

"Good afternoon, Levi. How was school?"
Levi hesitated. "Good. It was fun."
His mom turned around, a bit of a surprised look on her face. "Fun, really? That's good to hear, honey."

Her surprise was definitely caused by the fact that he barely talked to her nowadays. He was trying to not be angry at his mom, but it took so much restraint to not feel incredibly betrayed everytime he looked at either of his parents.

He hated that he felt that way, especially towards his mom, but he couldn't help it.
So every time she would ask him a question now, he would mumble something resembling an answer and get out of the room as soon as he could.

"Mom, I need to ask you something."  Levi felt a bit nervous.
"What's wrong?" His mom looked worried, while she dried her hands on a kitchen towel.

"Oh, nothing. I just have an assignment I need to do. And it's… it's got to do with the trip."
"Oh?" His mom asked, a frown forming on her face.

"We got assigned into duo's. And I was assigned together with Jay." He quickly got it out, not able to look his mother in the eye.

"You got assigned or you formed them yourself?" His mom's voice had an accusatory undertone which Levi tried to ignore.
He shook his head. "I promise, mom. We got assigned together."

She took a sharp breath, like she always did when she tried to gather herself. "I see. Well, you have to tell your father."

Levi sighed. He was definitely not looking forward to that conversation.
"Will you be there?" He asked.
"Yes, of course Benjamin. I'll be there."

Levi felt instant relief, knowing he didn’t have to face his father alone.
"Thanks." He simply said. "I'll go do some homework now."
His mom just nodded, deep away in thought.

As he was walking up the stairs, he decided to go check in on his sister, so he walked over to her door and knocked on it.

"Moomm, I swear I'm doing homework!" Leah yelled, which Levi took as his invitation to open the door.

Leah was on her bed, her phone in front of her, earbuds in. Clearly, she was not doing homework.
"Leah." He said, while closing the door behind him.

His sister looked up from her phone and a big grin spread on her face when she saw who just entered her room. "Hey baby-bro."

Levi rolled his eyes. "Leah, how many times do I have to tell you this? You can't call me your 'baby-bro' when I'm literally older than you are."
Leah shrugged, unimpressed. "Who cares. Hey, how about we watch a movie together tonight?"

Movie nights were his and Leah's new favorite thing. Technically their parents didn't approve of them watching movies, but with 11 kids in the house, they had bigger things to care about at the moment than if two of those kids watched Disney and Pixar movies together to relive a childhood they never had.

"What do you wanna watch?" Levi sat down on her bed, his arms wrapped around his knees.
"I was thinking of Luca." She said. It was Leah's turn to choose. "It's this really fun summer movie, from what I saw on tiktok. And I'm craving some summer currently."

Levi knew Leah wasn't too fond of the dark and the cold that winter brought, so he totally understood. "Alright then."

"So, has anything interesting happened to you lately?" Leah asked, curious as always.
"Kind of. Don't tell mom this, but I cheated on an assignment."
