Adira.
Third-person POV.
Adira was tired of the night shift and was ready to go home. That's when one of her colleagues approached her.
"Adira, are you getting off work right now?"
"Yes, I'm so tired after a long night shift and I just want to lie down," Adira says as she groans and stretches herself.
She couldn't get the thought of having a nice long warm bath and a nice warm meal and lying down on her bed out of her head.
"Can I ask you a favour?" the colleague asked.
"Yeah, sure. What is it?"
"Can you please take the day too?" she said pleadingly and continued. "The other gynaecologists are on leave so."
She just wanted a few hours off. But still, how can she take the day off if the others are on leave? So she decided to stay.
She said ok to her colleague and decided to stay inside her office and take a quick nap. Even though she was tired she couldn't sleep. As she sat there in silence, the memories of her childhood crept into her thoughts.Of course, she didn't like that thought. But how can she forget the things that made her grow into the place she is now in and made her who she is? She drifted off to her memories.
Adira's pov
Before 16 Years...
When I returned from school my mom also had returned from her job. From the looks of it, she had a tiring day.
"How was the day mom?" I asked.
"As usual my dear. How was yours?" She asked me back.
"It was good Mom," I said without hesitation.
"Ok honey, go take a bath now." Mom said.
I said okay and left to take a bath. After taking a long warm bath I left to the kitchen again. Mom had prepared croissants for me. It was warm and delicious. And a glass of orange juice with that. It was wonderful. I liked my mom's cooking since I was young.
"How is it, honey? Does it taste good?" Mom asked me.
"Yes, Mom. As usual, it tastes wonderful."
I said with a smile on my face.Mom smiled at me too. After that, I left to do homework. Studying and assignments wore me out so I took a nap.
I woke up to a crashing sound. I jumped out of my bed and ran to the hall. What happened next had me stricken by shock.
I was pulled out of my thoughts by my colleague. She said that a patient had arrived and I needed to check on them. So I hurried towards the room.
I was awaited by a shock. It was my classmate from high school.
I smiled and said."It's been long since I saw you, Claire."
Claire smiled and said, "Yeah, it's been real long."
"I see that you are here for a checkup."
I said."Yes, I am." she beamed.
"But I'm sorry that your doctor is not here. If it's fine I'll do the procedures." I said.
And so they agreed.
After the check-up,
"Your baby is healthy. Just take the medicines and take rest. That's it for now." I said.
"Thank you. And it was nice meeting you again Adira. See you soon." Claire said.
"Sure Claire, bye," I said waving them goodbye.
During the time of the procedure, I was thinking about my childhood. I just couldn't seem to forget those things...
I once more overlapped into my memories...
