You make sure you have all of your things because you were moving away from Korea to Malibu because your parents had just gotten divorced so, your mom married your step dad right afterwards. I find it insane how he just proposes to her after a month of her getting divorced to your dad.
Your dad was always really sweet and you'll have to visit him sometime even though you wanted to just live with him instead of your mom but you didn't trust your step dad alone with your mom. He was weird and he'd do things that somewhat creeped you out. You were afraid what would happen if you left your mom alone with this creep for too long so, you just decided to stay with her.
Your parents got a divorce because apparently they never really "loved" each other but they just stayed together to make you happy but honestly and truly, you think that's total bullshit. If they really felt like that for so long, then why do it? To make you happy? Why would they break up now instead when you were a kid? You would've gotten use to your dad not being around if they told you sooner but now, you have to finish high school without a dad at the time you need him most like... seriously??!!
You double check your things to make sure you have everything and you hear a knock on your door.
"Hwayoung? Do you have all of your things together?"entered your mom and you look at her and release a stressed sigh
"Yes Eomma"you say and she nods and smile with folded arms and you look at her sadly
"Don't give me those Bambi eyes. This will be good for us! Don't you think we deserve to move after all of the hard days that we've been through?"she ask and you whine
"I'll miss it here"you say sadly and she shows an apologetic smile
"I'm sorry, but we need this"she says and your eyes tear up
"Oh c'mon Hwayoung! Malibu is beautiful! Didn't you see the pictures that your dad sent?"she asks and you roll your eyes
