Heyaa guys!!! Back after a long time🤧. Missed me?😁 No?😢 Okay. Let's start.......
_________________________________________"What the hell were you trying to do?"
Ivan shouted at Alexander who was dangling on the other side of the railing just by the help of Ivan's hand.
"Leave me, I want to go to Athena!"
"Suicide is not a solution. Come on, help yourself up."
"Do I have a reason to live?" Alexander scoffed.
"Yes, you have. Everyone has. Now come up."
Ivan pulled him over and they both fell on the ground.
They both started breathing heavily. Their hairs were disheveled and they got a weird look from a neighbour.
They quickly got up and went inside.
The room was messed up, the sheets scrambled up on one side of the bed. The pillows were on the floor. Probably they fell when Alexander tucked out the bed sheets. He never imagined that he would live to see this room again. The room which had many memories of Athena. The room which was an epitome of their love. The room which is now going to haunt him everyday.
"Why did you save me, Ivan?"
Alexander was exhausted and he could feel his body burning from fever. His eyes emitted fire and he could feel his eyes drooping close.
"I had to talk with you."
"Why?"
"The police has found some belongings from the blast. I came here to tell you that you need to come to the police station and identify which of them belonged to Athena."
Alexander looked up at him with red eyes.
"You know, I can't do that."
A tear strolled down his cheek.
"I know how much it is hard for you but it is important. I came here to take you."
"How did you know the address?"
"It's a long story. I will inform you about it later on. Now come with me."
Alexander didn't change his clothes and followed Ivan to his jeep.
Ivan started the jeep. The trees rushed past them just like the moments of Alexander and Athena. Alex never knew that he would get Athena for such a short time. Every second now felt short for him.
"When are you going to find the culprit?"
"Soon, the department is working on it."
Ivan took a turn. Alex could see that he was tensed up.
"The soon never comes. You all take so much time in solving cases that the criminals get a perfect time to leave the country. Then the case would be buried under thousands of files. Some rats will feast on them. And whoosh! The case is lost! Everyone forgets! But not the ones who lost their relatives. The police department is just a stupid show piece in every country. The corrupt people are the ones who control."
Ivan abruptly stopped the jeep.
"Mr. Hall, this is not a petty case for me. And for your information my department is quite functional than most of them out there."
"You police say that to everyone. You would realise what happens if you had lost any one like this."
"MR. HALL!"
Alexander looked at him.
"What? The truth hurts?"
Ivan looked at the front with a blank expression, his fingers tapping on the steering.
"Your wife wasn't the only one who died there. Several people died."
Alexander could see Ivan trying hard not to release the drop of water that has gathered around the corner of his eye.
"My 10 year old daughter died too."
♠️♠️♠️♠️♠️
Alexander and Ivan entered the police station. Many transparent packets were laid out on the long oakwood table. Many people had gathered and they took their loved ones' belonging, shedding many tears.
But Alexander.
Alexander couldn't cry anymore.
His eyes were dried up.
He advanced towards the table as he dreaded that he would find such a thing that would break him.
He looked over all of them and a certain thing caught his eye.
A couple dancing inside a thick dome shaped glass. It was broken and the couple has fallen apart.
His fingers traced over the packet and he picked it up.
She carried it in her bag?
Alexander could clearly remember giving it to Athena on their 3rd anniversary.
He could remember how happy she looked. She used to clean it everyday and considered it as her lucky charm. But he didn't know, why?
"This is hers." The words choked out of his throat.
"Any other things, sir?"
Alexander found a ring that he had given to Athena on their engagement. The ruby has fallen off.
Every memory of her was getting destroyed and he couldn't do a single thing.
He picked up all the things that belonged to Athena. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Ivan picking up a small butterfly locket and caressing it. Sensing that someone was seeing it, he quickly put it in his pocket.
"You finished?"
"Yes."
"Let me drop you home."
They both came out of the police station. When Ivan was starting the jeep, Alexander asked him the question which Ivan was fearing to face.
"Did the locket belong to your daughter?"
He stopped and looked up at him.
"Yes."
The ride passed quickly and they reached Alexander's home.
"Don't do anything stupid, Alex."
"Hm."
And then Ivan left off.
