A few years after they met Adriens life has changed allot, being 10 now his mother having passed away when he was 6, he hadn't left the house unless it was too go to a photoshoot, but somehow his father's assistant had talked the fashion tycoon Gabriel Agreste into letting Adrien go to school so that the boy could get over any anxieties he had with his first runway show coming up that being a nerve wracking thing for him since he'd never been in front of that many people in person, he stayed in his room most times at any gala his father would throw at the mansion, the only time he would be seen at such an event is if a certain bakery was catering the event and a special girl was dressed in her best to attend with her parents. The two would often run off to the backyard and play in the maze, making up different games that they could play as they ran in circles playing different games and running after each other.

"You can't catch me!" Marinette yelled as she ran through the maze Adrien not far behind her the two 10 year olds stopped at a gazebo in the middle of the maze to catch their breath, the two enjoyed their little games of tag, up until when Marinette's parents would call her and tell her it was time to return home and Adriens father's assistant telling Adrien it was his bedtime.

The two would always count the days until they could meet again, they could only talk over the phone when Marinette's parents would give their phone to her and Adrien could get to the home phone before Nathalie or his father and they would talk for hours Nathalie listening in every once and a while happy that Adrien did have a friend, though being only 10 they didn't have much to talk about besides their classes and the newest video game which would always get the two into hour long tangents and they would be talking about what game they would play next when they got to see each other again, eventually the two would fall asleep on the phone having sat in silence for a long time as they slowly drifted off Marinette's parents taking the phone and hanging up, Nathalie taking the phone and Gorilla putting Adrien to bed, Marinette's father putting his daughter to bed.

The routine would continue throughout the school year until they were finally reunited at an event and they could do whatever they'd talked about on the phone and they would enjoy every moment of it, there was an obvious connection and both Adriens father and Marinette's parents could see it, and when Adriens mother was alive she could see it as well, the two had been destined to be together and if they were ever separated they would find each other again, of course the party's would end and they would leave again

One day Marinette and Adrien lied in the garden of Adriens family mansion staring at the sky, at only 12 they had no idea the kinds of romantic feelings they were developing for each other, though it was evident to the 4 adults that stared at the pair through the window.

Sabine looked to Tom then to Gabriel. "I think we all know that those 2 belong together, Marinette has began designing to try and work for your company one day so that she can be closer to Adrien," Sabine spoke, knowing that her daughter had every intention of working for Gabriel one day if it meant she could be closer to Adrien. The adults all nodded very aware of their children's feelings for each other even if they weren't aware themselves.

The adults observed from afar unaware of what the young pair was speaking of down in the garden. "Look Adrien that cloud looks like a cat." Marinette spoke excitedly as she watched the clouds with her best friend, the young boy looking at the same cloud laughing and shaking his head, "Marinette that cloud looks like a ladybug not a cat." He spoke looking to her his green eyes shining as he looked at her, everything about her was perfect to him, her smile, her eyes, her hair, her laugh, even her clumsiness charmed him, her knew one thing and that was for sure, he had a massive crush on her.

"Ladybugs and cats have polar opposite meanings silly, especially if it was a black cat, then that would mean bad luck." Marinette spoke looking at him, her little 12 year old heart was pounding in her ears as she looked to her best friend, their faces just inches apart, her cheeks turned red and she looked back up at the ceiling completely unaware of why she felt this way, she was waiting for her soulmate, more specifically the phone that she would get for her 13th birthday in 10 months.

In October of the same year Adrien turned 13, and of course the only 3 people Adrien personally wanted there were Marinette first and foremost, Second was Nino, and Third was Alya, the same 3 friends he'd made on his own 8 years ago with his mother at his side, and Marinette went to school with them so it wasn't hard to keep in contact with them through her.

"This place is awesome Adrien!" Nino spoke as he entered the house, the 12 year old had never seen such a large house before, so being invited to one with his friends was a cool experience, Marinette was in casual attire which consisted of a dress, some flats and she held a present for Adrien that she made herself, her first design was made specifically for him, a small handkerchief she'd embroidered with his initials by hand, she'd spent weeks on it with her mothers careful eye watching over her while she handled the sharp needle.

"You guys are welcome to go play the games in my room, or we can get snacks, my dad let me choose quite a bit this year, despite having to invite his business associates and their kids, there's a girl named Kagami here, and then my cousin Felix, and..." Adrien hesitated knowing how Marinette complained about being bullied at school by the Mayors daughter Chloe, he couldn't stop her from coming unfortunately. They were interrupted by the obnoxious blonde walking over and interrupting their conversation. "Adrien! Ew, why is she here?" Chloe asked looking at Marinette scoffing and flipping her small ponytail in the navy haired girls face, Adrien had never personally had any visual evidence of the bullying, but that was evidence enough for him. "She's here because she's my best friend Chloe, and so are Alya and Nino." Adrien defended them Chloe then proceeded to storm off, not wanting to listen to her precious Adrien defend someone like Marinette Dupain-Cheng.

The now 13 year old Adrien stood proudly in front of his friends, like some sort of super hero in his own mind. "It's okay Marinette, she can't bully you as long as I'm here!" Adrien looked far to proud of himself as he spoke that line, Marinette laughed softly as she walked up to him and gave him a hug. "Thanks Adrien." The small gesture of his best friend was enough to make him blush, then turn to hide his face from his friends, to embarrassed to look Marinette in the eye.
