A full moon shone down into the fields of Windclan, the sea of grass flowing with the warm winds that swam through the skies. Tonight would be the night the clan would be at its lowest in members, with most of the camp out in a place called the gathering. It was perfect.
Searching for scents the young white marbled she-cat opened her mouth tracking for any danger nearby, the old scents of those who called themselves windclan lingered but posed no threat. However the old scents of badgers and foxes kept her alert and on her toes.
Fear crept from her body and she was sure that anything could track her down in an instant. Grabbing the small white and black bundle at her paws she picked up her pace hoping to find a place to hide and rest for the night.
Creeping closer to the thunder path, she felt the fur on her neck stand on end and her ears burning as a one-eyed monster flew past. Trembling she peeked out to watch before darting over safely. Fur still on edge she trotted towards the old mine building. Not many rogues approached the place thanks to the grumpy old cat that claimed the area.
She prayed that she wouldn't be seen as she padded in cautiously, pausing for a moment to sniff around she looked for a safe place before placing the small kit down. "Shhh my sweetheart.." she smiled to the small crying kit tucking her in warmly and safely "I must retrieve your brother.. I'll be back shortly.." licking the kits forehead softly she ran back out towards thunder path.
Looking back to the old building she took a breathe waiting for a moment to cross once more. Its foul smell filling her nostrils as she raced across once more. However her paws skidded to a halt as a familiar black figure waited at the bushes. It's orange eyes piercing her body with terror as it begun to walk closer. "Jersey. Why are you here!?" she hissed her blue eyes flickering with anger.Jersey seemed taken aback for a moment looking to the she-cat "I came to check on you and my kits my Marble. Is that so wrong?" He sat down with a soft smile waiting for her to finish crossing his black and white coat shimmering in the moonlight.
Silver looked to the tom-cat her fur flattening slightly as her heart seemed to ease, she loved this cat with her whole heart but he also loved others. Still frozen she offered a small smile beginning to pad over. "I'm alright dear, just a little on edge. I thought I saw prey but non the less I ended up near that old mans house."
Nodding softly the tom closed his eyes for a moment, did she lie? a little hurt he went to say something opening his eyes and mouth to say something. However as his eyes opened time seemed to slow as his eyes came into realization his ears ringing as he looked to where silver once stood.
Silver laid eyes wide on the road. Her bones crushed as the monster roared past with lights brighter than the sun and speed that she had never heard. Her paw twitching she gazed to Jersey tears streaming down her face "Jer..sey..."
Coughing up blood she rested her head as her eyes begun to grow like moons. Her thoughts begging for jersey to help her. To take care of the kits but no words left her mouth. His blurry figure getting up and running into the grassy fields.
Jersey felt his whole body freeze in shock his body trembling. Soon enough he found his body running through the grass, tears flowing down his face in horror. Silver had been hit and he left her there to die. He couldn't do anything. The scene continued to lay in his mind as he raced his way through windclan towards the barn. He didn't mean for her death, It wasn't his fault.
The warm air seemed dry out his mouth even more as thunder clapped in the skies overhead. His mind swarming with thoughts as he lost himself.
---
The small white and black she-kit mewed loudly as the thunder clapped above and echoed through the rusty old mine, It was starting to finally fade away. Morning air chilled her to the bones, the unfamiliar scents scaring her as her mothers scent was slowly fading away. Bundling up her belly grew hungry as her head tucked into her paws. Her tiny cries echoed through the old mine building but only silence was met.
A grunt seemed to heave itself to its paws a thud following not long after but almost in sync with the storm outside. "What is that Outrageous noise." A voice seemed to croak as it padded closer "Oi! I dont want no cats, especially kits in my Den. Do you hear me!?"
Growling the one eyed tom peered around the corner looking to the small kitten "tch, what kind of cat leaves there kit in this rust bucket" He stared at the small bundle sniffing it hesitantly his fur ruffling as her eyes begun to open and stare at the cat with wide and curious eyes, her blue eyes staring at him silence, no fear seeming to cross them as she fell silent.
Staring up and the weird scented cat she fell silent, curiosity filled her mind as she looked around the world for the first time, her body shivering softly.
Letting out another groan the tomcat picked up the kit and begun walking out towards the thunderpath "c'mon kid, you don't live here, I'm sure your mother would like you in a safer den." Not being fazed by the scents he pushed his way through the bushes that lined thunderpath. His eyes gazing over to the body the crows seemed to ravage. Gripping the kit in his teeth and closing his eyes he turned away heading back to the old building. "sorry kid.." he seemed to mumble as he held the kit "guess you'll be staying"
The kit blinked confused, she could've sworn she smelt her mother nearby as she tried looking back. However she didn't cry nor try escaping instead she stared blankly back at a misty figure which seemed to slowly fade away, her mother wishing her luck on her journey. Rubbing her eyes she didn't seem to understand looking back to the old one eyed cat who placed her down somewhere warmer.
"stay here, this old med is going to have to find something for you to drink." Tucking the kit in he stared down at the small kit. "Phoenix... Your name shall be phoenix" he breathed softly "A name that a kittypet once told me a story about" without hesitation he headed out into the daylight.
Phoenix watched him leave, she didn't understand anything at all as she stared up through the glassy wall looking towards the blue sky white things dappled through its canvas. So big yet so warm. She curled up under its warmth hoping for food soon.
