Arley's pov

ring, ring

Ugh, I hate waking up early.

I just want to snuggle deeper into my covers and cuddle Ellie the whole day. Ellie is my stuffie, she is a small grey bunny with long ears. I love her so much. Even though she has an eye missing and her colour is fading she still looks perfect to me.

My Mama gave me Ellie when I was born and I've been attached to her ever since. She is my best friend and thunder buddy, I guess you can say Ellie is my child as I take care of her every day.

I'm getting ahead of myself.

Hiya, I'm Arley Faye Brooks. I am 21 years old and I am in my second year of college, though college doesn't take most of my time since I barely go in, I work at the book shop down the street. Working at Mister Henry's bookshop is my favourite part of the day and I love to surround myself with the vanilla scent in the shop as well as the smell of fresh books.

My family is my everything, they get on my nerves but we are all really close and I love them dearly. We lost Mama two years after I was born and everyone in the house was heartbroken by the sudden loss of her, Papa grieved for many years, he still is. He tried his best not to let his emotions show but the house was very quiet after Mama left, it took a while for the house to become alive again.

Akeno,  eldest brother was only 7 , August, the second oldest was only 6 when Mama passed. Being only two at the time, Papa would do everything in his power to make sure that we had everything we needed. Papa would always remind me of how I was turning into Mama, the sweet and caring young lady that Mama was.

I don't remember much but I always love to hear stories from Papa and my brothers of how warm Mama was around the house and how she always spread love everywhere she went. Being the only girl in the house feels good as Papa and my brother's treat me like a princess yet I do wonder what it would be like with another woman in the house.

As my alarm rings for the second time I finally open my eyes and roll onto my back. I am not a morning person but I do enjoy breakfast with Papa and my brother's, there is always something new to speak about. Papa always stays out of the way when Akeno and August argue, and this is every morning, always something new but it is funny to see how they quickly refrain themselves when Papa gets in between them.

"Arley, honey are you awake yet?" I hear Papa's faint voice as he gently knocks from the other side of my door.

I slowly get out of bed and walk across my room to open my bedroom door.
