Seeking Love Amidst Pain

Amidst the sea of wounded souls, I tread, Who'll mend my fragile heart, heavy like lead?
I whisper, "I'll be fine," while pain courses through,
In truth, I deceive, for they're all I pursue.

I tell them their healing's a balm to my soul,
But really, it's me, this facade takes its toll. Why do I care when their care's but a guise?
Why is it they leave me, while my love never dies?

No one fought for my presence to stay,
Yet I battled each time as they drifted away.
Is this the price for seeking love's sweet embrace?
Perhaps I'm not worthy of love's gentle grace.

Is this the life I once wished to explore, Where everything fades, and my heart grows sore?
In shadows I dwell, my dreams slipping away,
Hoping love's light may dawn, to guide my way.
