Megan~
For the 3rd time that night, Megan peeked out of the blinds from her front room, looking straight across the street at Normani and Chance's home. She could see the two of them outside arguing and Chance had a bag in her hand. Considering she had been staying over the last few days, Megan figured Chance only went home to get more things and ran into her mother, which sparked the current argument they're having.
Akira stopped cutting her magazine and squinted her eyes at her mother, "Were you always this nosey?"
"Hearing them argue like that doesn't bother you?"
"No. Have you forgotten that used to be us?"
"How could I? I'm just glad it's over."
"Over? Trust I am still pissed at you for pulling me away from home and making me leave my small little life in Chicago. You just haven't given me a reason to be mad at you lately."
"I was doing what Beyoncé wanted."
"Righttt... Listen to the parent who died instead of doing what's best for yourself and daughter."
"You could always go live with the relatives that hate you in Houston."
"I'd rather live here and hate you for fun instead."
Megan shook her head and looked out the blinds again, "How long have they been like this?"
"Couple of days. When Chance was over she was too upset to even speak to her mom."
"Did she tell you why?"
"Uh, something about Normani painting her dad out to be the bad guy, cheating, and having a baby."
"A what??" Megan turned around to face Akira.
"A baby, but I could've heard wrong."
"He had the baby or Normani?"
Akira scrunched up her face and turned her head towards her mom. She wanted to ask if she were slow for a second but she knew how much trouble she'd be in, "Normani."
"Like a cryptic pregnancy or something?" Megan couldn't believe Normani would have another child. obviously it would've occurred before she and Akira moved out here, but was it with Chance's dad or did Normani just go around kissing people at parties and seeing what it would lead to?
Megan knew that whoever Normani did, and whenever she did them, had to have been bad because she's never witnessed the two of them so much as get angry at one another. Screaming at each other for the entire neighborhood to hear was far much worse than anything Megan and Akira had gone through.
After a minute, the screaming stopped and she heard a door slam. Megan went over to the blinds to look out of them again, only to see Chance walking back over. She stopped looking and waited until the doorbell rang to open it. Akira looked over at her mom and shook her head. Megan opened the door for Chance and welcomed her in. "I hope you don't mind Ms. Megan, but I think I'm going to stay here for a few more days."
"As long as your mom is okay with it, I don't mind."
Chance and Akira both looked up at Megan, their silence saying more words than what could have come out of their mouths. "What?"
"Read the room mom." Akira stood up from the couch and collected her art project, "Come on Chance, I'll show you to the guest room."
"I know you must be tired of me, but would it be alright if I slept with you in your room again?"
"Absolutely not."
"Akira." Megan scolded her. "She just needs a friend."
"Whatever."
